Plot – Spoilers:
Cannibal has Marian Dora’s staple atmosphere and squishy crawlies but offers a more straightforward plot and linear narrative. It is based quite closely on the Rotenburg Cannibal, Armin Meiwes.
A lonely gay man who often watches snuff films and videos of animal slaughter is overcome by an irresistible urge to eat a willing male victim. He hangs around chatrooms and meets potential meals, but they all eventually back out or don’t fit his menu. Finally his luck turns a corner and an eager man who refers to himself as ‘Flesh’ turns up with just one condition – “I don’t want to suffer.”
The Flesh is more enthusiastic about his looming death and even assumes a dominant role when they fuck, while the Cannibal finds himself chickening out and worse, is repulsed by the taste of Flesh’s cock.
Flesh is disappointed and asks to be dropped back to the train station. But that’s only the halfway mark in the movie…
Random Thoughts:
This is a great effed up movie for a number of reasons, but mostly for two:
1. With Cannibal, you get a de-glamorized and de-sanitized take on effed up scenarios. The shit that you’d actually have to be insensitive to is captured pretty well here.
2. Cannibal also details an oft-overlooked aspect – it’s one thing to have a fantasy, another to actually follow it through.
However, by the end of the movie, you wonder if the Cannibal having crossed certain boundaries will be as loving and concerned about his next victim’s needs, and more importantly, if his next victim will necessarily be a consensual one.

The guy was such a pussy, and an amateur, the way he cut that other guy’s cock was so weak, and he obviously looks like he doesn’t know what he’s doing at all. And also when he started cooking that cock, seriously the dude has no skills whatsoever, he didn’t even tried cleaning that cock and seasoned it well before cooking it, no wonder it taste awful for him. What a total wuss!

First of all, it was tougher and took longer to get through your stinking Catptchas four times than it was to get through this film. Now, about the film. I will have to do some research, but if ANY of this film is actually based on the actual events that took place, the title should’ve been “Totally Unprepared Pussy with No Compassion with a Weird Innate Desire” rather than “Cannibal.” Why do I say this? The first reason is because the only request that “Flesh” had was “I don’t want to suffer.” Yet this maniac did nothing BUT that to this poor consenting man. First, he can’t go through with his “plan for his ultimate desire” that he has been hatching for probably decades. Then, when given a second chance, when “Flesh” asks him to castrate him and then kill him, first of all, Mr. “I have everything prepared” uses the shittiest of knives in existence to take at least a full minute to cut off the man’s penis, rather than using a decent scalpel, and then he doesn’t even honor the man’s request to kill him!!! In fact, he keeps him alive and suffering for Lord knows how many days; at least two, from what I could glean. A movie in wich you can seriously ask yourself if the final butchering is not made on a real corpse… (not the actor’s one of course, but a real dead body)

Good film
Amazing film the actors were really good and kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.. I had shivers running down my spine for the whole movie (apart from the end that was slow and boring) but all together a really good movie.. the only way it could be better is if the man who ate him was more into it.. I’m asexual but it touches my heart to see people having their fetishes Fulfilled(as long as it’s moral).. because I know how much it means to some people.

This pits to mind the conclusion of the Rammstein video “Mein Teil” where it is glaringly obvious to anyone that knows what “topping from the bottom” means that it was Bernd Brandes that got almost exactly what he wanted from Armin Meiwes while Armin must spend the rest of his life in prison. They were both dangerous idiots but this movie raises some serious questions about society’s linear definition of “victimization”; Questions that is even more relevant now in the post-Metoo era.
This is really inept filmmaking omg, kind of disappointed this hyped director turned out to be such an amateur.

Not a fan of gay porn, but seriously Zed, more cringeworthy than torture? I love this site for many reasons, but the uncomfortableness I feel watching two men have sex onscreen is much different than watching someone graphically gutted onscreen. I get what you’re saying though.
I want to watch this for the gore and horror, but I keep putting it off because its basically a gay film. So, I ask myself, is it worth it to put up with one thing for the sake of another. Blood and guts and torture do not bother me but gay stuff makes me cringe. Sorry to all the gay guys out there.

Somehow i do find the movie boring…I am interested in the character of Armin Meiwes, after reading about the cannibalism incident, the movie made him a wuss, more like a cannibal wannabe. Too much remorse in the movie. Instead the dominant one is Brandes. That is the only part I did not enjoy at all. The gore is absolutely awesome! I even managed to find the actual leak of the photo which Brandes was hanged.
I like Marian Dora, but not this one. I agree with the guy above who said he got tricked into watching gay porn. If you don’t like watching naked men for an hour and a half, this may not be your cup of tea.

Stunning film. The homosexual pieces, while repulsive to me, are shot in a way that eroticizes death. Extremely well done in every aspect. The most astounding piece of the film is the sound. The sound is amongst the best I’ve heard in modern cinema. At times, there are three layers of sound to be heard: the ambience of the actual goings on, a soundtrack of some type (be it music or literally just sounds being made instruments), and a third track of barely audible noise- coyotes howling, low frequency low amplitude pitch, and other similar occurrences. This third track is something unique to this film and it is astounding what a difference it makes. Bravo to the director.

Over all, fine film. The actors were convincing and I actually felt uncomfortable the first few times watching. It seems like an interesting point of conversation. We all have thoughts, don’t we?
