Plot – Spoilers:
This is the Director’s Cut that sees the original extended by about 10 minutes and notably includes a gory spiderwalk that was excluded from the theatrical release.

What’s there to say about the most iconic horror film ever made, containing the most iconic piece of music ever heard in horror, other than that.

The daughter of a famous actress plays with an ouija board and befriends someone she calls Captain Howdy. Then possession happens.

The magic of The Exorcist probably lies in a very detailed book that was its base. There is something very personal about the horror that makes you care about it, whether it is Father Karras and the convincing sadness he feels or a mother forced to endure the suffering of her little girl.

This has been included under “Based on a True Story” here because the book was inspired by an alleged case of exorcism that the author William Peter Blatty studied closely.

“Let Jesus fuck you!” fantastic work, though I prefer the theatrical version (the ending here is trite)

A classic movie but this version is not as good as the original theatrical cut. The extra stuff put in this one should have been left on the cutting room floor. An example of a good scene ruined is when Chris McNeil comes home and the lights are going on and off. The superimposed demon face on the hood of the stove kills a genuinely scary moment with a cheap CGI trick. Also the famous “spiderwalk” scene doesn’t work on many levels. William Friedkin said he left those scenes out for a reason. All the participants involved in the film agree that the original theatrical cut is superior (except for William Peter Blatty, who thinks that “The Exorcist 3” is the best film in the series). “The Exorcist” is an absolute masterpiece, just not this version.

Nothing makes a great horror movie like that one ingredient that’s missing from today’s crappy, mainstream horror movies…Atmosphere; No movie will ever surpass the Exorcist in atmosphere!

The original and the best has finally found a home here at EUM. This is the film that started the demonic possession genre with a myriad of cheap copycat versions, most of which were frankly laughable. On ya, EUM.

Zed bro, ol Mother Joan of the Angels predates most of em, and a decade later the brits w The Devils, which was based on the same thing, still predates Exorcist. There was one other that comes to mind, but memory fails me. Anyway, lol, I commented tho bc I wanted to ask ya, I’m watching this piece of trash on YouTube right now called ‘Fantacide’ (2007). Ever see it? U might get a kick outta it if not. I sure am. Peace;)

Yo, Elliot, nice to hear from ya. Never heard of that film u mentioned but Im gonna check it out now. Btw, have u been able to get a link yet for ”Charlottes Net”? I couldnt find one on the clear net but yet to check out the dark side. Always reluctant to go there as there are risks. Take care, Zed.

Hey, Elliot, watched ”Fantacide” last night. Thx for recommending it. Looked like an Olaf film, full of ott gore and very politically incorrect. Cat lovers may not appreciate it tho. Those English accents made me lol but I enjoyed it for what it was. Also, theYT version is 7 mins shorter than what IMDB says so its probably cut, but still a good watch. Cheers, Zed.

No-go from me on Charlotte’s Net yet either:/ Toxic waste did some lame bootleg dvd-r limited sale of it the first of the year, missed it tho.

Ya for Fantacide it had said that is the directors cut version tho that he had preferred, guess they re-shot some scenes specifically for it, n some play out in different order. We prbly didn’t miss much, if anything. Glad u got a kick outta it too! Was surprised I hadn’t heard of it till now.

Irritates me how movies like this n ol Charlotte’s Net get completed but have almost zero distribution, like what was even the point. It’s not hard to toss the fucker on Vimeo and charge ppl to view. Whatever. Will let u know if I find it tho. Now give em the treatment;)
