I really enjoyed this film.
Artsy but boring, couldn’t finish it and had to skip through a lot of parts. If you’re into something artsy you’d probably like it but it had too many dull moments to justify to disturbing scenes in my opinion. I thought the pregnacy/baby thing was creative though. If you want something artsy and like nasty shit this would be for you.

Great ideas with a pretty bad rappresentation. The first part was super interesting, in fact I enjoyed the binomial of life and death, nature and humans. The middle part was absolutely trash, the last part was indeed nice but horrible effects and acting. Unique in is own way overall

Saw it, and have no ideal what it was about. Were they trying to hard to be art, or perhaps just me.
I watched this one a while back, and it’s still my favorite film I have discovered on this site so far. With films like this, all I care about is the experience of watching it. This was a unique experience unlike any other I have had from a film. I loved the way it was shot, the soundtrack was fantastic, and many of the images were potent enough that they have lingered with me since. It basically feels like a series of intrusive thoughts vomited up by a diseased id. I loved it.
I really loved the lighting and the general retro style of it. There were some really cool images in this! Sometimes I got a bit annoyed by the art student monologues (and I got really bored during the hippie earth fucker scene honestly) but there was a lot that I did really like.
This is a movie made by 10 year old boys who think periods are when a lady screams and gushes blood from between her legs. Anything that happens that even could be remotely related to a vajiiine is FULL BODY SEX- even if it’s a literal baby fucking their mom. How do you get so buck-ass backwards as to think that a baby is fucking their way out of their own mom? This isn’t deep. It’s just stupid boys who can’t imagine a woman as being anything other than just a sex toy.
“What if women were people?” Sorry nope, just a vehicle for my Extremely Important Life Giving Essence Without Which Life Would Not Exist. A lone dude jerkin it to his sister is truly the only thing keeping humanity afloat.
The lighting, camera angles, and vocab of this movie can’t disguise how incredibly fucking stupid it is.

This movie is many miles better than “Angel’s Melancholy” because it knows exactly what it’s trying to be: shameless garbage meant to be viewed as an intense fever dream when you’re suffering from delirium. This film doesn’t waste any time when depicting its sadistic sexual debauchery and, like I said, this film knows that it’s trashy and exploitative, but its artsy vibe is interesting enough to carry its weight. Trying to logically interpret this movie would ruin the experience because it’s supposed to be ridiculous trash that makes little to no sense. The only two things I will say about this film is the second segment is kind of boring, even with the bleeding plants and the guy giving a blowjob to a knife, and the third segment was a little too on the nose with its anti-religious messages being force-fed to the audience. This is basically a Big Mac made with truffle oil and it’s one of my favorite movies ever.

Didn’t want to waste my time in a banter about a movie I didn’t like, but u got me I guess bro. Imo Midsommar was a dogshit movie mainly because it borrowed *heavily* from elements of Wicker Man. Kinda shocked it didn’t say ‘based on’ it in the credits (Asters other film, Hereditary, also borrowed elements from another spec series of horror films too, albeit not as blatant). Pretentious too w a ~2.5hr runtime it had no right to have. I actually originally viewed the directors cut which was 3hr:/ Also, to say u didn’t understand Midsommar yet go on some rhetoric about it is kinda funny;) If u watch it again, look for the different symbols/runes throughout, the various paintings, the flower crown next to chics dead parents, etc. I also found the film totally predictable, because the tapestry shown in the very beginning literally shows u exactly what happens in the film, call it bad foreshadowing. I dont really know what to say about this one except for the fact that it was the most bizzare film I have seen for a while. If this is art, then I am artless because I did not get what it was trying to say. On the other hand there was good gore and the soundtrack was quite nice. I am glad I watched it though as I was aware of the controversy around it.

Thank you for posting this Admin. It was too artsy-fartsy for me to sit through the whole thing. Some films with micro-budgets can bring a raw power to horror/drama films. This was NOT one of them. Still, the parts I watched were not totally without merit. I did like the idea of spoken word put to film. Some of the film maker’s spoken/written thoughts or musings are interesting and some even strike deep, but there is no follow up to any one thought, so the randomness never gave me traction to dig deeper. After brief bits of drama-queen level self pity, became bored and forwarded to another part. I would like to contrast this to Ari another film I saw on line this weekend, Aster’s Midsommer. This was a film of unspoken thoughts, ideas and visions. I am sure that I DID NOT understand the film in it’s entirety, yet I was transfixed by each and every sequence. The terror was in what was not said and what is not perceived by the eye in the first viewing. Your eyes and ears are being deceived by light and sound while your mind is receiving a nasty jolt that may not hit you for hours or days to come. There was gore, but it was used sparingly and with great effect in a way that will stay with you for a long time. Having a large vocabulary is one thing. Using words which you obviously don’t know the meaning of, or what context to use them in is quite another. To keep it brief, there’s great artsy weird, like Der Todesking, then there’s garbage artsy weird, like anything by Marian Dora. I’d put this film somewhere in the middle, imo. Unique enough that I wouldn’t mind viewing another of this directors films.

This is such a great film. It certainly wont be for everyone due to the arty vibe but it’s a genuinely grotesque and beautiful experience. The first segment is especially disturbing.
