Plot – Spoilers:
The Manson Family follows the wanton lives of the Manson family on a ranch and the lead-up to the murders. This story is presented as a documentary being prepared by a TV producer to mark the upcoming anniversary of the events. The parallel story follows a group of junkies who have been keenly following the producer and have plans for him.
The Charles Manson story is big business and I mean BIG. It has generated literally billions and billions of dollars in book sales, movie tickets, merchandise, such as clothing and CDs, and commercial revenue from TV movies. The fact that the story is illogical and has a million and one holes in it is irrelevant. Case in point: Ruth Ann Moorehouse was busted for dope when she was 15 years old, but instead of the police calling her parents who lived in the area, she was released in to the custody of George Spahn, a 79 year old blind man who was not related to Moorehouse in any way whatsoever and who lived on a ranch, where drug addicts, bikers and criminals lived, that the police had under surveillance. That is just one anomaly in the thousands in this case. This film is a chaotic, disjointed, uneven and pretty idiotic version of the alleged “Manson Murders” and the events that led up to them. Even director Jim Van Bebber has problems with Vincent Bugliosi’s “Helter Skelter” version of the story and changes it here. As far as this movie goes, the acting is pretty weak and the sequencing is all over the place. I know that Bebber ran out of money while he was filming and had to stop for a couple of years before he could finish the film. Did yall notice when the tweakers were on screen Jim Jones was preaching in the background. If I had been 16 years old, and just came off a Mickey and Malory Knocks kick this movie might have been okay, but at 50 years old it just seemed like pretentious teenage edge lord crap.
Fucking spectacular movie I loved every second of it, 10/10 recommend.
Just out of curiosity. How many of you got the clot shot vaccine? People have been dropping like flies in the last 2 years from “a brief illness” or “no cause of death was given.” The CDC has stated now (a little late if you ask me) that the vaccine can cause strokes. The whole Charles Manson boogeyman fairytale is a load of horseshit. So let me get this straight. Manson had Sharon Tate murdered to start a race war the blacks would win. Once in control, the blacks would not be able to handle the power. That is when Manson and his minions would emerge from the “bottomless pit” and become king of the world. And 99% of people in America bought that story hook, line and sinker? The truth of the matter is that Sharon Tate’s father worked for the Nixon administration and was in charge of psychological operations (aka – psy-ops) during the Vietnam war. Peace and love hippies were convincing suburban housewives that 300+ young American soldiers coming back from Nam in body bags every week was wrong. Nixon got together with the Hollywood folks and they came up with this BS story to vilify hippies. Their scheme worked perfectly. Hippies immediately shut up about the war and Nixon’s weapons manufacturing bonanza continued for another 5 years without protest. Then we see Manson doing interviews in prison and at parole hearings wearing ripped jeans, denim jackets, hippie love beads and a long beard, all of which are not allowed according to the California Corrections Grooming Policy. Jim is a wild dude and innovator! He shot some videos for Skinny Puppy and Download scored this. Glad this movie filmed in the 90s was finally completed. Though the budget was low, it works for the material.
