Plot – Spoilers:
Moll works as a guide for elderly couples touring the islands. At home, she’s that one in the family. The one everyone decides they know the present and future of, based on their past. And Moll has a past, when as a bullied teenager she’d stabbed a girl at school. But the bullying hasn’t stopped even now. It just moved from school to home where her family seem addicted to controlling her. Her senile father has been entrusted in her care. Her mother keeps a close eye on her, deciding where and when she steps out and with whom she can hang out. Her brother has made his daughter’s after-school needs, her responsibility. During her birthday party, her sister makes the occasion about herself. Every time Moll steps out, she’s made to feel guilty for daring to have a good time. One such time when she’s out clubbing, an odd young man helps her out and they start seeing each other, despite her mother’s obvious disapproval. Meanwhile, young girls have been turning up murdered and the cops think Moll’s new friend might be the one.

This is a good one. Lots of creepy characters: Moll’s mom, the guy who tried to rape Moll, Moll’s uncle, Moll’s sister, Cliff (he was REALLY fucking weird), the white haired policewoman (scary), the guy with the yellow teeth who gets head butted, and of course Pascal and Moll herself. It makes sense that there was a serial killer lurking about with all these possible suspects. Jessie Buckley turns in a great performance as Moll with some really memorable moments. Just watch the exchange between Moll and her mother (also a great performance by Geraldine James) at around 26:30 after Moll left Jade alone so she could hang with Pascal or at around 53:00 when Moll makes a toast at the country club.
This is a great film. I’m giving it 5 stars and it goes in to my top 20 on EUM.

Haven’t seen a great film for awhile and I must say this one really nailed it. The trama, the characters, the script, etc. Moll and Pascal chemistry is so unreal that almost made me cry in two scenes. I wasn’t expecting that ending tho, kinda tragic and twisted at the same time.
