Trust me on this one.
This is a must watch for every movie lover in general.
A little of the old ultraviolence always does the job.

#Selina, you are allowed to write the word ” fucked ” here without having to put asterisks into it. Or are you so easily offended that you cant bring yourself to do it? If so, you shouldnt be on this site. Just saying.

It was effectively banned in the UK for a long time and like lolita kubrick took out some of the more dodgy parts of the books. However for me its the soundtrack that makes the film. When I hear singing in the rain I never think about a man dancing around a lamp post, I think of a man enjoying a bit of the in-out, in-out and ultra-violence. The big deal is mainly a product of its time. Its a good film but its fucked-up credentials are more historic.

Sitting in a college theater filled with people who had no need/awareness to fear it’s portent, next to a woman and her two children (who walked out after the first quasi-rape), on whiskey and weed was quite the experience – watching people pretend to swim in the abyss can be almost as much fun as the real deal – Kubrick might have hated me but I love his stains

cold cerebral fuckery – for those who want to think about the implications – the book is too fucked up to actually film realistically

An absolute classic which I think spawned a lot of future films of this type, but there is nothing like the original. Great performances and good soundtrack, especially the opening track. Very controversial in its day, particularly the rape scene which is mild by todays standard, but it still remains an all time great movie. 10/10.
