Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965)

Option 1Can't Watch?

Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.

If the movie didn't load, it means you are being blocked by a security service we use. This can happen for a number of reasons.

Click this first

A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.

Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.

If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie

The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.

The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.

This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.

On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.

AKA:
Directed by: Russ Meyer
Starring: Tura Satana (Varla), Lori Williams (Billie), Haji (Rosie), Susan Bernard (Linda), Stuart Lancaster (Old Man), Paul Trinka (Kirk), Dennis Busch (The Vegetable), Ray Barlow (Tommy)
Country: USA; Effed Up American Films
Language: English; (Optional Eng subs)
Runtime: 01:23:23
Genres: Captivity-Kidnapping, Retarded character

Plot – Spoilers:
Three go-go dancers on a break tear through the desert in their fast cars, wrestle each other for fun and play wild, boys games like chicken racing. The leader of the trio, Varla, enjoys being a total prick while humiliating anyone, especially men. And so it happens that a smug racer comes along with his teen girlfriend for some test runs. Not only does he have his ego squashed, he also ends up being murdered by Varla. The gang then abduct his girlfriend and their travails soon see them stumble upon a crippled old man living way out with his sons. The old man catches Varla’s attention as it’s reputed that he has a nice stash hidden away.

This was a pathbreaker in its time for plotting females into characters and scenes that were traditionally written for men. Also, the physically strongest man here is retarded. And having a female sociopathic evil character as the central protagonist means giving the woman a certain power while necessarily portraying her male antagonists as weak (crippled) or gutless.

But Russ Meyer didn’t go the whole way with this and played it a little safe. Because it’s basically one psychopath woman and her two female accomplices who mostly go along with her decisions out of fear and a certain admiration for her fearlessness and dominance. And as for the men:
There’s a pervy old man that seems written in to justify some of Varla’s actions as compared to making her full psychopath who’d steal and kill a helpless, kind old man.
There’s even a heroic young man who saves the weakest female character while going against his own immoral dad.

But even with these compromises, this was a failure at the time and gained appreciation more in hindsight.

There is a documentary about Tura Satana …Tura!, 2024… her real life was interesting but it was unclear to me how much is fact and how much is fiction. Obviously with all docs nowadays they try to smear it with loud-trans essence but I think some here kind of like that. Go 🐟….

“I never try anything. I just do it. Wanna try me?”
Hell yeah White Zombie sampled this movie when I was a young degenerate.

For some reason this seemed like a super long and bizarre episode of the TV series “The Rifleman” maybe because of the musical score and the filming techniques. The big difference between “The Rifleman” and “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” is that “The Rifleman” always had good scripts. Russ Meyer seems to have talked the girls in to starring in the film and when they asked him about the script he said “We’ll just make it up as we go along.” It was a box office dud, like most of Meyer’s films, but it has gained a cult following over the years. If you ask the cult followers if they want to watch it twice they say “Nah.” There are a few funny spots near the end, like when the old man gets slapped, but the story is just too weak to carry the film. Add that there is no nudity and you end up with a nonsensical B&W relic that is just an oddity in Meyer’s collection of odd films. Not Russ Meyer’s best IMO. 2 stars.
