At 17, Martha’s self-esteem is in pieces. She feels old and unwanted, a feeling exacerbated by her job as a prostitute. It was meant to be a part-time thing, but now, it’s the only thing she can use to validate her existence. Her situation is compounded by the new girl, 16-year-old Nadia, who is more confident and popular. Martha resents her but is also drawn to her. The two begin a sexual relationship they believe means more, but Martha remains just as confused and often wonders if you can love and not love someone at the same time.
From the director of the Last House on the Left 2009 remake, Hardcore features an edgy style and music, mostly in a good way.

I just watched 4 movies:
1. The Last Descent (2016) – A recreation of the Nutty Putty Cave tragedy. I had panic attacks while I watched it because I am claustrophobic. Very good film.
2. Kill By Inches (1999) – Bizarre story about a family of tailors. Strange cast. High on the effed up meter. One of my favorite films.
3. Suntan (2016) – Greek movie with an outstanding performance by Elli Tringou. Build up is a little slow but the payoff is big. Highly recommend.
And…
4. This one – Hardcore (2004) – Strange film about the love affair between two teenage prostitutes. It has it’s moments but the story is a bit disjointed. There were times when I was wondering why I was watching it but I stuck with it till the end. On reflection I like it better now than while I was watching it. 3 stars.
Hardcore (1979) with George C. Scott is a good film too.
