Plot – Spoilers:
Following a dramatic opening moment, Father kills the mother of his two daughters and takes off with them to a cabin in the woods from where he works for a local druglord. He eyes his daughters and soon gets one of them pregnant. The baby delivered into a bucket survives, and as an afterthought is fed flesh and held captive in a shed. But the idyllic life of dad and kids is disturbed a decade later, when he ends up killing a couple of nosy cops and has to go on the run while the kids try to run in the other direction.
This Chilean offering oscillates between amateurishly shot scenes often involving the drug gang and some pretty good stuff when the focus is on the family and their fucked up lives, even post-Dad. A pretty tame American remake followed from the same director, a couple years later.

It’s amazing that the director Patricio Valladares (and financier I presume) thought this dogshit script was so good that he made the movie twice. I didn’t read the descriptions before I watched so I ended up watching the American one first, against the recommendations of EUM. I think it would be better to watch the American one first because A. The story in the Chilean one is harder to follow with some scenes out of sequence and B. If you watch the American one first you will be more likely to watch the Chilean one which is supposedly the less “tame” version.
The Chilean version is a little better because of some funny scenes, like when dad takes the belt out near the end, but it is also much stupider, with the retard brother and the enhanced cannibal angle. I’m going to give both of them just a cunt hair under 2 stars.
Bad quality of movie and the cast worthless. I would not recomended to no one…..My advice is take that out of the selection and dumped.
