Plot – Spoilers:
A history teacher Adam finds his days cyclical teaching the same rote and having the same type of sex with a woman Mary who drops by his apartment in the evenings. A casual conversation with a colleague leads to him watching a film in which he notices a bellboy who looks exactly like him. Adam now becomes obsessed with finding out more about this actor.
Normally in a scenario like this, you’d be like – ok, so some twin? What’s interesting about that. But that’s what makes Enemy such a good watch. The simple concept of a possible twin is approached in a manner that keeps you on edge while piling on the tension.
The Ending
The safest assumption to make is that Adam and Anthony are one person. From here, you can go in multiple directions.
A big budget mainstream film, the kind EUM viewers get apprehensive about. Well you can all rest easy because this one is super fucked up and bizarre and belongs here on EUM. It is one of the strangest psychological thrillers on this site for sure. The director used the “Mexico filter” to give it a yellow tint. The musical score is just fabulous. It’s weird and fucked up and I thought it was fantastic. I loved the ending. 5 stars.
I have never ran to the internet so fast in my life searching for answers than after watching this for the first time. It completely ruins the what the fuckness of the movie though if you explain it and makes the ending extremely anticlimactic. Almost like being disappointed once you learn the secret to a magic trick.
I enjoyed this movie, could have gone on longer.. BUT that ending is rather strange and has no meaning.. I mean, there is notion of spider activity, but still , no meaning. At least, not enough.

first move ive seen in a while i can accurately describe as just ok. the concept is enjoyable, and no doubt jake gyllenhaal is a great actor. it seems to suffer from what i can only describe as student film syndrome, the dialogue feels far too “tell, dont show” and the characters feel less like real people with reason-based objectives and more like puppets to the script. the plot was confusing but that seems to be the charm of it. dont think i can consider it a good or a bad movie, glad i saw it though thanks EUM
Interesting approach on the film, let you see 1st and 3rd person perspective. The only thing that confuse me is the spider which no matter how i think of it was just a misfit piece in the film.
