Maybe it’s the nostalgia of it, but in an era where color-deaths are constantly thrust at you, there is a certain charm in the b&w stills. Death Scenes is relentless as it runs through hundreds of deaths, rarely taking a breather
Fascinating documentary with a lot of information contained therein. A lot of these murders/murderers I had never heard of, such as James “Bluebeard” Watson, the hermaphrodite, who was said to have killed 22 of his/her wives. Very interesting film. Recommend. 4 stars.

Good, interesting documentary, but I do believe SATAN is taking certain liberties with case information. Particularly with Jean Harlow and Paul Bern. For one, she died of kidney failure. It had nothing to do with any injuries she sustained 7 years prior. And I sure wish these neophyte film makers would learn how to mix their sound. Easing the BACKGROUND music down a couple notches will bring up the narration.

This was a really fascinating watch. I liked all the early film era deaths and prohibition era murder. Could have probably skipped the part with all the little kids though… :-/ My bad, i’ll just have to block that one out later.
Been looking for more films like this since watching the traces of death etc, just watched the next 2 and there just as good
o/t Having difficulty in which film to watch in tribute to ONJ: Toomorrow is a bit clunky, Grease to obvious and Xanadu is sentimental. If only she had done a hard core porn slasher then my choice would have been so much easier.

Is it possible for a film to be classic yet underrated at the same time? I think that this is a prime example of that being true. The vintage in these pictures is in someways more disturbing than they would be in color. The whole eerie vibe that accompanies black and white just brings a reality to it that falls dead on the ears of the post-internet world, but it’s true just the same (I tread lightly on mentioning titles on here,. But go watch a certain B&W Scorsese film about boxing and compare it with rocky to get the jest of what I am saying). This
shockumentary is good on it’s own merit. But it definitely wouldn’t be as good without Uncle Anton’s
Narration/presentation. The dark, noir ambiance, the opening up of the “good old days” exposing the hemorrhaging wound on the underbelly of the “xtian moral compass” era of American society, the rareness of the selected pics, the fact that this is an early entry into the genre, (and of course, Anton Lavey)
