Spectacular work with the lighting. One of the most disturbing short films I’ve ever watched, the plot isn’t ridiculous too. Genius.

This is actually a rather brave and brilliant little film.
Horrifying movie. Thanks EUM. You did what you set out to do. The actors in this are sick and I cannot for the life of me understand how Ari Aster was able to convince them that this was okay. I’m sure their families won’t ever be able to look them in the eye again. I had no idea this is the same director that created hereditary but it makes sense because he’s seriously fucked in the head. We definitely need more psychopaths making movies….there was a time I saw my mother naked and I thought nice boobs but did I have wet dreams about her or want to bone her eh no. Human are quite interesting in their lunacy

Wonderful little short film, it was a perfect portrayal of gaslighting and just such a terrible family dynamic. The whole thing was unnerving and I enjoyed it immensely!

yes the plotline is something i would easily see in a manga by Harada, except the ending. that was very girlboss of Ms. Johnson, go qween. i would have expected it to end with hmm the mom hangin’ herself and young Johnson going on with his sick plan, but i guess the father had another plan. i guess that happening let Ms. Johnson have a bit of space to evolve her character, cuz before that she was very passive.

I can’t comprehend how witnessing such devastation encourages someone to turn a blind eye. My own family is dysfunctional and when I became an adult I legally emancipated myself from all of them, but not once did I experience sexual abuse or defective subjectivity such as this.

This short movie is amazing! I really wish it could’ve lasted longer the acting could use a little work but still heart wrenching and stomach twisting

Usually, it’s the older one who does the abuse to a child, but it’s the other way around this time. If this indeed happened in reality, how can the victim call for help? Especially if there’s a family secret that shouldn’t be known to the world?

.This just broke me down to tears. I relate so closely to this situation. This was crazy and hard to swallow when seeing, but at the same time there are life lessons here & also situations that show that those who go through abuse are not alone. It’s so weird to see that in this situation it was the adult who had this horrible feeling so just imagine the children, how them being smaller makes it difficult to fight someone bigger & the physical pain is so excruciating that unless you went through it you won’t know how horrible awful you feel afterwards. This world is crazy & just like an Anaconda, they would eat you alive with out you even not even noticing!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡
Excellent.. part of the trilogy series I recall.. portraits of American families which included the world famous UG short.. the mighty Cutting Moments… This is slicker of course and just as terrifying… Another fine slice of societies underbelly and a damcfine short .
