Well, this is a Lifetime movie and based on the case of 14-year-old Elizabeth Shoaf, kidnapped just outside her home by Vinson Filyaw and held captive in his bunker in the woods.

OM Gosh what a movie. Elizabeth was smart to play lover. He trusted her and let her go. Good thing he was a coward because if not the ending would of been totally different.

Generic, uninspired movie. The kind of stuff they shoot just to earn some money by shocking the average folk with a watered down true crime story. The parents seem too chill, the police isn’t dumb enough, the boyfriend and brother are meaningless, the vilain doesn’t even look as depraved because he’s never angry and the girl isn’t as scared or smart as you would think. Reading the Wikipedia page about the case gives more insight and you should do it rather than watching this.

Vinson looks like Jack from the house that jack built
We’ve been down this road before. Mid 30’s loner dweeb kidnaps a teenage girl so he can be an asshole for the fun of it. Distraught mom calls the police who make things worse with their accusatory tone and lack of skills in detective work. Ends without seeing the perp getting busted when you really want to see him get his ass kicked. The good news they don’t tell you about in the movie is that Vinson Filyaw died in prison at the age of 51. A cause of death was never given. I choose to believe that 4 or 5 guys severely beat him and he suffered for weeks with critical injuries before dying. Yeah, it’s a Lifetime move. 1 and a half stars. Next week the world premiere of “Bambi” or maybe some slapstick comedy with Ben Stiller will be on EUM. File under LAME.
I believe Lifetime has a few other “Girl in the ____” movies. (Box, shed, basement)
