Circle Of Two (1981)

Option 1Can't Watch?

Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.

If the movie didn't load, it means you are being blocked by a security service we use. This can happen for a number of reasons.

Click this first

A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.

Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.

If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie

The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.

The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.

This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.

If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.

Plot – Spoilers:
The opening music conveys what many retro movies from the period did – nostalgic hopelessness, yet a beauty in this hopelessness.

A soon-to-be-sixteen schoolgirl, Sarah, bumps into an older man, Ashley, a couple of times and finds herself drawn to his ease with the world. An aspiring writer, Sarah, is creatively intrigued when she realizes Ashley is a well-known painter, even though he hasn’t painted for a decade.

For Sarah it begins as getting a creative person’s views on her writing; but then she soon starts spending more of her schooltime at his house unapologetically. At her age, it’s easier for Sarah to not give a fuck about the views of her parents and friends that vary between Ashley being a cradle snatcher to her being a grave robber. With Ashely, he doesn’t hide the fact that he’s attracted to her, but the world’s opinion does matter and so he applies a veneer of respectability and honour to it all by not attempting to take her to bed. What Ashley does though, is shake himself out of his artistic limbo and begin painting again even as he becomes increasingly conscious of his physical weariness while also being repulsed by the sight of older men.

Critically panned at the time of its release, maybe it’s the vintage appeal, but there’s something beautiful about two people who almost insist on choosing tragedy over the idea that hope can be a choice.

I’ve never seen Burton act so uninspiring before. The chemistry between him and Tatum was zero.
I watched “Submission” last week and the acting there was on a whole different level.

Richard Burton gives so little of a shit that the production had to add some music when he speaks so people may grasp the fact that it’s a dramatic moment. It’s a vulgar tv movie I’d forget as soon as I’ve finished watching it, expect the semi-naked moment which I really liked.

Ahhhh. My 2 favorite actors. Super rich nepo baby Tatum O’Neal and stuck up British fuddy duddy Big Dick Burton together at last. Right from the beginning the big question is which one is going to Bogart that joint first. It’s just as preposterous and corny as you would assume it would be but it has it’s moments too. There are some unintentional LOL moments like the boat cruise with old Ashley singing in French and the teenagers gleefully singing along or Ashley St. Claire (that name- give me a fucking break) getting pissed off at the art dealer or rich pampered Sarah’s attempted suicide. The final scene in NY with the over acting and the corny violin music just puts the cherry on top. This seems like it was made to stroke Big Dick Burton’s aging ego.

With so many movies to choose from (“Murder of Innocence” (1993), “Revolution #9” (2001), “Aftermath: A Test of Love” (1991), “Surviving: A Family in Crisis” (1985), “Clean Shaven” (1993), etc.) why choose this one? I don’t get it.

I’ll give it 2 stars for the unexpected part in the middle but it is really over the top sentimental and absurd.
