Click this first
A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.
Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.
If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie
The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.
The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.
This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.
On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.

Plot – Spoilers:
The Cornell family are on their final legs with mother, Nora, looking to sell their home and finalize the split from dad, Tim. The kids are an irritating daughter and a mostly-npc son who has an internet tough guy moment later in the film. The couple-split happened because an ageing Tim was romancing a much younger woman. But Tim is now back, looking for a rerun. And it seems very possible because Tim is used to things going his way and often uses pliant words while being kinda smug and unapologetic.
But now, Tim’s authority and sense of control is about to be challenged by Michael, a fugitive, whose lawyer is so obsessed with him, she helped him flee. Michael and his cronies break into the Cornell home and take the family hostage as they wait for the lawyer girlfriend to show up.
This movie was buried by critics at the time, and since, but in my view, is grossly underrated. Sure, things get muddled towards the end and the cops are shit. But the cars are cool and two greats are pitted against each other. Mickey Rourke, at the peak of his charms and Anthony Hopkins, who manages to put in a performance where you WANT to see him cucked. The scenes where Rourke’s character plays smooth while almost charming Nora as he breaks Tim’s authority as the daddy of the home are quite magical. Director Michael Cimino was already ostracized by the time of this movie, and Hollywood, renowned for the way it can kick and bury people, seems to have done its thing with this one. Don’t believe the reviews, give it a try.

I have avoided watching this because I thought it was a bad movie. It’s actually not half bad. I gave it a 4. God, Mickey was so handsome before he did all that shit to his face.

Desperate Hours (1990), directed by Michael Cimino, is an ambitious but ultimately uneven crime thriller featuring an impressive cast led by Mickey Rourke, Anthony Hopkins, Mimi Rogers, Lindsay Crouse, Kelly Lynch, David Morse and Elias Koteas. A remake of William Wyler’s 1955 film The Desperate Hours, the story follows Michael Bosworth (Mickey Rourke), a dangerous criminal who escapes custody with the help of his defence attorney, Nancy Breyers (Kelly Lynch), before joining his brother Wally (Elias Koteas) and fellow criminal Albert (David Morse). As the three men attempt to evade the authorities, they invade the home of the Cornell family, turning an already troubled domestic situation into a terrifying ordeal. The family consists of Nora Cornell (Mimi Rogers) and her estranged husband Tim (Anthony Hopkins), whose marriage has deteriorated because of personal disagreements, infidelity and a general breakdown of trust. Their existing relationship problems become secondary when they find themselves prisoners in their own home, forced to deal with three unpredictable criminals while FBI agent Brenda Chandler (Lindsay Crouse) attempts to coordinate the investigation. The premise is excellent, offering plenty of opportunities for psychological tension, character development and suspense, but unfortunately the screenplay never fully capitalises on its potential. Mickey Rourke is undoubtedly the film’s most interesting presence, delivering a strange, theatrical and unpredictable performance as Michael Bosworth. He gives the character an unusual personality, switching between apparent charm, arrogance and intimidation, making him difficult to read and occasionally genuinely unsettling. Rourke clearly enjoys playing this eccentric criminal, although his… Read more »
I knew this was the surprise movie but I didn’t want everyone’s attention to go to me. Anyways awesome movie. Wow!!! You’re welcome for reviewing it before OMH haha.
Not Mickey Rourke, Anthony Hopkins or Michael Cimino’s finest hour. In fact all of the all star cast have had better performances in better movies. Add to the fact that I’m not crazy about home invasion movies and the musical score is so super sappy that James Cameron would blush and you would think I would trash the shit out of this film. Yes, it’s dreadfully corny and implausible. Yes, Lindsay Crouse sounds idiotic with that phony southern drawl. Yes, the plot is incredibly stupid, but it is somewhat entertaining. It’s like some rich Hollywood person’s fantasy dream of what a home invasion would be like IRL. Mickey Rourke had already worn out his welcome in Hollywood by this time and Michael Cimino really fucked up after the triumph of “The Deer Hunter” (1978) with his expensive box office disaster “Heaven’s Gate” (1980) which cost $36 million to make and brought in $3.5 million in return. Rourke thought Cimino was a genius and was in several Cimino films which all did poorly at the box office. Most of Rourke’s films didn’t do to well at the box office but some were discovered later to be fantastic, like “Angel Heart” (1987). Unfortunately “Desperate Hours” doesn’t fall into that category. So far this film has a two star rating on 4 votes. I’ll go 3 stars. It’s a one and done but it’s enjoyable in a ridiculous sort of way. Effed up? Sort of if you put in to play how nonsensical… Read more »
