Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.
Click this first
A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.
Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.
If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie
The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.
The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.
This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.
If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.
About the Two Cuts:
1. Braindead/Dead Alive has many versions and cuts. The first one here (Unrated Cut: Option 1) is the Unrated Cut at 01:37:13.
2. The other available cut is the longest cut available at 01:43:11 and includes material from a bootlegged copy. These extra scenes are more plot-related and not really censorship-related. As in, you really won’t get much extra gore by watching this.
Note: This version has an audio problem – a lower-volume second audio track can be heard in the background in some places.
AKA: Dead Alive
Directed by: Peter Jackson
Starring: Timothy Balme (Lionel), Diana Peñalver (Paquita), Elizabeth Moody (Mother), Ian Watkin (Uncle)
Country: New Zealand
Language: English (Eng Subs)
Genres: Gore-Splatter
Plot – Spoilers:
The big daddy of splatter-gore and comedy-gore, Braindead shoved in as much of it as was possible at the time with existing technologies.
The story is sort of fairy-taleish – set in New Zealand, a storegirl Paquita’s grandmother prophesies that her prince-charming will lead her to everlasting love. The prince charming here is Lionel who lives in a mansion with a pompous mother who bullies him. So Lionel not only has to overcome his mother but also prove worthy in Paquita’s eyes. Help comes in the form of a mutant rat-monkey that was smuggled into the NZ zoo from Sumatra. The rat-monkey bites Lionel’s mother and she begins transforming and biting everyone possible. And so on.
A wacky and zany zombie movie with lots of gore and blood. It’s the kookiest! 2 and a half stars.
fucking awesome! also probably the goriest film ive ever seen including mixtapes.
My favorite Peter Jackson movie.
Aggressive zombies. Special effects in abundance. What a horrible, great, fun film!
That lawn mower, I want one.
A timeless gem. The epitome of splatter horror comedy.
I must say, this movie is one of my all-time favourite dark gore comedies I have seen so far. I simply love it, and never get bored of wating it over and over again.
Average day in Ohio
I LOVE THIS FILM. 10/10
Certified classic trash 5/5
shit
im very new to gore and this was funny asff 7.3/10 would recommend
u should add meet the feebles also by peter jackson
Probably the goriest film on this site and on par with ”Evil Dead”. If this was a serious movie it would probably be banned everywhere, but its so hilarious in parts its most likely not considered as a video nasty. Prior to this, Peter Jackson made ”Bad Taste”, another film in this genre and although its not as gory, it has some stomach churning scenes in it. Worth checking out.
yeah… made my day again. got a few good chuckles out of this one. it was so dumb it’s hilarious in parts. definitely a classic. how do you come up with so many great movies nobodys ever heard of. well done, I love this site
Always a favorite. Horror, gore, comedy, the purfect trifecta. You can have Lord of the Rings, (to Hollywood), this is Jackson’s Masterpiece. Just plain fun.
Thank you! Seen this in my 20s & have been looking for it again ever since. LOL, “Your mother ate my dog”! And NOTHING beats that lawnmower scene!
Very impressed with Timothy Blame!!!! Brilliant physical comic actor!!!
Classic!
The Godfather of horror comedy!
So much fun!
Thanks effed up, y’all made my night!
One of my all time favourites and the best line delivered but a man of the cloth – “I kick ass for the Lord!”
Option 2 errored out and would not play. Option one has the voice issue, but it’s not that bad. I made it through the film without too much issue. Always a favorite.
As always, thanks to the folks at Effed Up for hosting this content. We all appreciate your willingness to preserve extreme cinema. Thank you.
This was great!
