A narcissistic killer live streams his killings through his victim’s phones and builds up quite the fanbase. Meanwhile, a reporter who runs a news website is desperate for traffic and decides that the best way to generate hits, is to kill and post the exclusive images on his site. At some point, the paths of these two fame-mongers cross each other…
The violence in The Dark Days of Demetrius is often indirect and suggested. This is more a surrealistic take on a social-media killer and is recommended for fans of independent extreme cinema.
It’s better than some other Dakota Ray films. The first 20 minutes is like an ego trip where he tells us how great looking he is. He says he wants his face to be the last thing his victim’s see before they die but he puts pillow cases over their heads so they can’t see him. This one had a little bit better production than his other stuff and there was even a story line, but I hate the pitch shifter he uses to make his voice sound “demonic” when it makes it sound corny. 2 stars.
