If it all were just a dream, that would be a sensible way to avoid all the nitty-gritties of reality. How does Helena look when she wakes up and her hair hasn’t been done perfectly. Is she still attractive to Nick when he’s helping her take a shit – assuming he’s not into shit.
There’s a nice detail of Helena’s head propped up by a pillow. But in Nick’s world, the visual perfection of a limbless Helena surrounded by beautiful flowers would most likely be offset by such seemingly minor, nodding realities.
His mother was more attractive . . . He should have boxed her instead of Helena.

Annoyingly disappointing. It’s about an irritating guy named Nick (Julian Sands is perfect for the role) who thinks he loves Helena. The movie isn’t sure if it wants to be a comedy or a serious drama. In the end, daddy’s little rich girl director Jennifer Lynch didn’t know where to go with it and made the whole thing just a horseshit dream with no rhyme or reason to it. Soft voices and loud music production issues too. The scene where Nick is banging the girl in front of Helena just drags on and on with that shitty song playing in the background. What a waste of time and money. I should have listen to the critics.
*spoilers*? A movie symbolic of a culture of patriarchy and male domination over women. The fantasy that many men have, and/or view women as objects rather than people or a person.
Sure, it’s kind of corny at times, dorky acting/scenarios, but you have to look into the deeper meaning as a whole. Plus, Sherilyn Fenn is gorgeous.

I didn’t expect that ending though. Despite being promiscuous as she is, it seems like Helena is still hungry for more extreme obsession/captivity play. Maybe that’s the horror of the story. idk. I think it would be also interesting if she approaches Nick with that mindset after her accident. Yandere x Yandere? Then the sexy scenes could be used to create some horror tension or creepy built-up for the characters instead of brushing it off as romance.
