Man Next Door (1996)

Option 1Can't Watch?

Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.

If the movie didn't load, it means you are being blocked by a security service we use. This can happen for a number of reasons.

Click this first

A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.

Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.

If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie

The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.

The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.

This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.

If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.

AKA:
Directed by: Lamont Johnson
Starring: Michael Ontkean (Eli), Pamela Reed (Wanda), Sam Anderson (Dwight), Annette O’Toole (Annie), Vonetta McGee (Rehabilitator), Richard Gilliland (Moe)
Country: USA, Effed Up American Movies
Language: English (Optional Eng Subs)
Runtime: 01:34:05
Genres: Rape-Women-related, Siblings, Cops

Plot – Spoilers:
Eli, out on parole, moves into a small neighborhood and helps out at his brother’s hardware store. But when the townsfolk realize he’s an ex-rapist, they aren’t sure if he’s capable of staying clean.

A TV movie by Lamont Johnson that’s thematically similar to The Woodsman. While not as good, the topic should perhaps be of interest – does a sex offender deserve a chance at rehabilitation, and if given the chance, what are the odds?

If the rapist was released in to a woke liberal democrat town in California, Minnesota or Massachusetts they would have had a ticker tape parade for the guy and would have shunned anyone that gave him shit.

Michael Ontkean (Eli) really plays a dirt bag well. He looks just like a guy from my home town who is a total asshole and has the exact curly quaff hairdo. Eli is really unlikeable but honestly so is almost everyone else in the film. Both Eli and Wanda were such miserable cunts that it was difficult to know which one you were supposed to be for or against. Whoever the people were that were responsible for killing the dog should have been fucking executed, but the people of the town seemed to think it was alright to do that. I’ll give this just a cunt hair over 2 and a half stars. It’s pretty good for a TV movie.

I previously avoided this one because I thought it was a movie about homosexuals with the title “Man Next Door” and the picture of Ontkean in his tank top. I remember Michael Ontkean from “The Rookies” TV series. He was also in a top notch movie called “Slap Shot” (1977) with Paul Newman. I wouldn’t say “Slap Shot” is effed up but it is a cult classic and it would be great to see it here on EUM (after all “A Thousand Acres” is on EUM).

A story well told. A much smaller version of the pack mentality at Capital Hill?

Inexcusable and unjustified what they did to his dog. Exact revenge upon the human, not their animal because in my eyes, you’re just as disgusting or even more so for executing that innocent beautiful dog.

My own victimization notwithstanding (Four times, four different occasions, both genders) I still can’t understand how a sex crime is so much worse than any other violent crime (And isn’t it telling that Megan’s law and the victim feminist myth of rape culture started right here in the U.S.A. where the general public is only a little less puritanical than 3rd world Islamic countries and possesses less than a thimble’s full of knowledge of the prison industrial complex it created.) Anyway, the reaction most people today have to this movie and movies like it is the reason why I base my criteria for friendship not on a person’s religion, race, who they voted for or which gender’s crotch they want to marry, but on how many times I might have to hear the phrases “They should…”. Or ” Think of the children!” Stammer out of their shitholes. If either of those hysteria inducing clichés become audible to me more than once, it’s one time too many. On a very important side note, EUM really needs to be celebrated for more than just the movies. The films that you guys select tend to stimulate a lot of free and open discourse among us that we definitely would not be having on disgrace book or screwtube or any other mainstream social(ist) media service. PROPS! \m/.

We are all guilty to something. In a time where world war three is just luring around the corner, I doubt if there really still are some town gossip councils àla Agatha Christie who make your life difficult. By the way: would you really care?!

Odd music selection at the start. A middle age white man in a old pick up… of course he’ll be listening to current year hip hop.
