Filmed mostly in Haiti with a lot of extras from there, it comes off as exploitation even though the film makers insist that was not their intent. There are hilarious moments and it’s worth sticking around till the end but to call it a documentary is a real stretch, considering that we all know slavery is just over exaggerated bullshit. It’s kind of a chore to watch because you need to be a speed reader while reading the subtitles. Plus it’s fucking LONG – 2 hours and fifteen minutes. It seems longer. I had to take a break about one hour and fifteen minutes in to the film to rest my eyes from speed reading. 2 and a half stars. I’ll probably skip the director’s cut.
2 hours of uncomfortable torture scenes that the actors were paid peanuts to make.

Cuz it seemed different to me, while mondo cane is clearly a shockumentary this is more like a movie, it has a plot yk. So I’m asking if the footage is real cuz I can’t really tell😭
Why I see => only released on DVD… It exist in 4K Blu-ray with both version the director’s cut and normal version. And that’s before the article even appeared.
