Thelma (2017)

Option 1Can't Watch?

Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.

If the movie didn't load, it means you are being blocked by a security service we use. This can happen for a number of reasons.

Click this first

A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.

Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.

If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie

The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.

The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.

This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.

If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.
Warning: Contains flashing lights as it involves a character suspected of suffering from epilepsy.

Plot – Spoilers:
Thelma is trying to make it at uni after being brought up in a controlling Christian home. She doesn’t have any friends and while at the library experiences seizures when another attractive girl sits next to her. Anja, the other girl, eventually befriends Thelma and becomes a little protective of her, particularly after introducing her to her social group.

The two girls, seemingly different, share a few things when it comes to family. Thelma’s parents, father in particular, are intrusive to the point of keeping a tab on her school course timings and her facebook friends. Religion is also strictly enforced and Father even seemed to briefly consider killing her as a child. Anja hardly knows her dad. Her mother, while seemingly relaxed, is convinced Anja has an eating disorder and is also a little too interested in Anja’s love interests.

The two spectacular opening scenes give you an idea that this could be a great movie, and it is for the most part, backed by a very good cast that might not necessarily all be well-known.

Massive Spoilers:

Thelma, the name has Greek roots that are about your own will. And by the end, this seems to be the case as Thelma gains some control of her unique abilities, unlike Carrie. Where Carrie caused destruction but also allowed the world to consume her, Thelma does better in at least one of those aspects. So why heal Mother and let Father die – seems like her abilities are tied to her internally truly wanting it. Just willing it isn’t good enough. And Father probably represents control and her own slow destruction, like it happened with Grandma. So he can die. And maybe Grandma is like Carrie, the older story, who is reined in eventually. And two generations later, Thelma represents the evolution and improvement on the story from the pov of the protagonist.

It’s slow, spooky and weird with creepy religious, medical, psychological and supernatural undertones. If you were wondering why the old man thought about putting a bullet in her head at the beginning of the movie you’ll understand why by the end. 4 stars.

Description, as per usual, is ass. Barely gives a hint of the movie’s story while unnecessarily blabbering on. Maybe, oh idk, just a suggestion, Thelma developing psychokinetic powers should be mentioned, at least in passing??? Outside of the paragraph labelled as MASSIVE SPOILERS and filled with pseudo ~movie analysis~ crap. Admins maybe read over the bullshit you’ve written before posting it.

This movie was made about me. The director called me many times and I told him that I am the most wonderful human on the planet to ever exist, with special powers ordained unto me by divine intervention, which I have harnessed and now display when I feel like it.

Thanks for the upload.

2017 truly was a time for directors to be on something whilst making movies.
