Plot – Spoilers:
Hung is a boxer involved with the Hong Kong crime syndicate. He watches his brother unfairly beaten by a Thai boxer and swears revenge. Meanwhile, he is disturbed by visions of a monk whom he tracks down to a monastery in Thailand. There it is revealed to him that the monk was on the verge of attaining immortality when he was thwarted by a bunch of satanists. The monk also alleges that Hung and he are twins from another life and that their current lives are also intertwined. In short, it’s up to Hung to fight the dark arts, which he does by becoming a monk in 3 months! But the dark artists aren’t about to give up easily and Hung switches between being a monk and a boxer to avenge his brother.
Made in 1983, some of the effects are downright comical but in a good way. There is also a truckload of WTFery that makes this a delightful watch.
Spectacularly weird with incredibly bad special effects that somehow turn in to genius special effects. If you came to EUM to see a fucked up movie here it is, plus you get to learn a little bit about Buddhism along the way. There are some great location shots of Thailand and the streets of Katmandu, which allowed me to go there vicariously through the film since I will never be able to visit there IRL. When the man chewed up the banana peel, regurgitated it back on to the plate, passed it to his friend and his friend began eating it, I was pretty fucking grossed out and felt nauseous. If you want to see a really fucked up movie don’t skip this one. Lots of memorable moments in this film. 5 stars.
I like about half way through it blatantly steals the audio from the end of the movie Phantasm right before they kill a croc to sew the guy up in .

This is Jodorowsky and Sam Reimi as his finest, practical everything, if you want to experience the religious Asian side of HK you came to the right place, I’m a horror fan myself, and I enjoyed knowing a little more of the other side of the world.

Cool movie, the gore films from Hong Kong are fun to watch, also surprised to see Bolo Yeung (the bad guy from Bloodsport) doing his performance on this one.
It was totally not what I expected. What a great experience.
