AKA:
Directed by: Fabrice Du Welz
Starring: Lola Duenas (Gloria), Laurent Lucas (Michel), Edith Le Merdy (Marguerite), Anne-Marie Loop (Gabriella), Héléna Noguerra (Solange), Pili Groyne(Eve)
Country: Belgium; Effed Up Belgian Films
Language: French (Eng Subs); Effed Up French Movies
Runtime: 01:33:22
Genres: Based on a True Story, Infidelity-Cheating, Killers

Plot – Spoilers:
Loosely based on the American Lonely Hearts Killers, the setting here is Belgium.

Gloria, a single mom, works at a morgue and is suitably dead inside. Until she meets Michel, who initially seems cringe, but blows her away into multicolored hues with his sexual prowess – a skill he honed practicing on his mother. Gloria can’t stop giggling around Michel after that and when he dumps her, she leaves her daughter with a friend and goes looking for him.

The pair realize they’re fucked up enough to be a couple and devise a plan to seduce and murder older women for money. Problem is, Gloria suffers from a type of premature ejaculation when it comes to Michel’s dick taking care of other women. When her obsessive jealousy takes over, she isn’t able to control her rage and instead explodes, often well-before they’ve extracted any meaningful money out of their victims.

This is the second in Fabrice Du Welz’s Ardennes trilogy, after Calvaire, and once again features fine performances from its two leads.

After watching this again I def feel like about half an hour was cut out of the final edit. I think there was more to the rituals performed (love spells) with unintended consequences etc. Plus it just jumps in and out of a wedding ceremony with a massive altar erected as well as the fire dance scene which seems ritualistic. Also character development and the relationship with her daughter. It’s like oh yeah she’s got a daughter. But it eludes to more as Gloria tells Michel “Why didn’t you try to do things with my daughter!?” But he’s only with the kid one time? Weird. IDK maybe they were going for this frenzied jarring type of storytelling.

This is a great film powered by two excellent performances from the lead actor and actress. I can’t recall ever seeing Laurent Lucas in a bad film. Still, the best film version of the infamous ‘lonely hearts’ killings remains Leonard Kastle’s stark B&W gem ‘The Honeymoon Killers’ 1970. If you haven’t seen it and found this fascinating, proceed immediately.

Here’s my top 10 not on EUM (in order):

1. The Exorcist (original theatrical cut) (1973) My all time favorite movie. The director’s cut on EUM doesn’t even make my top100.
2. The Godfather (1972)
3. The Omega Man (1971)
4. High Plains Drifter (1973)
5. Taxi Driver (1976) – Goodfellas (1990) – The Deer Hunter (1978) – tied for 5th.
6. Dirty Harry (1971)
7. Cruising (1980) Critics hate it, Pacino hates it, Siskel & Ebert hate it – I think it is absolutely fantastic! The entire cast is superb. Everyone hates the end because it leaves unanswered questions. That’s the best part! 5 stars out of 5. Let me tell you – this movie is EFFED UP!!!
8. Scarface (1983)
9. The Glass House (1972) TV movie about prison with great performances by Alan Alda and Vic Morrow.
10. The Hill (1965) Directed by Sidney Lumet.

As always I’d like to see your top 10.

I would say THE HILL features Sean Connery’s best ever performance. His Bond movies were good but didn’t require much effort from him. THE HILL is different. It’s a tough movie and he had a tough role though Ian Hendry’s performance gets top marks in the film.

1. A Perfect Murder (1998) with Michael Douglas and Viggo Mortensen. Gwyneth at her best.
2. Contagion (2011) Even Matt Damon (not my favorite actor) was good in this one.
3. Seven (1995) Brad Pitt (another actor with questionable skills) in his best role. He was perfect for this role. The ending was definitely a hard scene to make work but he pulled it off.

1. Lovers and Liars
2. SPF-18
3. The Banger Sisters
Should be said that the verision I watched ran 1h 35m so a 2h film has been severly cut. Could not find a full copy and even though the cut scenes would be raunchy I am not sure if that could save such a fucked up useless film.

Actually, your stating that Brad Pitt is not a good actor only instantly proves that you’re a fuckin RETARD. Watch A River Runs Through It, Legends Of The Fall, Meet Joe Black, 7even and then 12 Monkeys – all in succession, and then tell me that he’s not a GREAT actor. And why FFS do all of these GREAT actors want to be in movies with him (especially Anthony Hopkins – who is EXTREMELY selective)??? And then (if you’re still being a brainless twat), watch him in Fury, Snatch and True Romance. He nearly stole the biggest moment of True Romance in one of the shortest scenes, except that Gary Oldman and Dennis Hopper had already shared that stunning brilliance in 2 separate scenes I could mention about a dozen other excellent flics for him, but that’s enough for now. I was a hard skeptic at first, thinking yeah, yeah, yeah; so he’s fricken handsome/ a female heart-throb… pffft, fuck that. But not after watching those 5 flics I mentioned above.

Yep, true: you like what you like and that’s okay, but… I say you don’t like him for OTHER reasons (personal grievances, YOUR not being an honest broker). Not to beat a dead horse, but if you don’t realize that his portrayal in Snatch is damned near as great as Daniel Day Lewis (my choice of best actor in fifty years)… you’re fucked in the head over SOMEthing. Anyway, I can’t fuckin stand any POS human being who “thinks” (btw, these kool-aid drunk, propagandized, brainless lemming, tool-bag puppets don’t possess the ability) that joe effin biden is not one of the dumbest scumbags who ever held political office in America… should have their ability to vote canceled forever, and then be tarred and feathered, hung, beaten within an inch of their lives, then lit on fire – along with 90% of the democrat/ marxist party and ALL of their donors. (as well as the ESTABLISHMENT republicans at the top – they sell us all down the river for profit too). So we may have THAT in common. Btw #2: I have a lot of respect for most of your lists on here… I just like the fun of calling other people stupid fucking cunts – after noticing that this seems to be the standard on this site. Good fun!

Here are my top 10 Robert De Niro movies (excluding Taxi Driver (1976), Goodfellas (1990) & The Deer Hunter (1978) which are in my other top 10 list):

1. Cape Fear (1991)
2. Raging Bull (1980)
3. Casino (1995)
4. Midnight Run (1988)
5. Sleepers (1996)
6. Flawless (1999)
7. Limitless (2011)
8. A Bronx Tale (1993)
9. Cop Land (1997)
10. The King of Comedy (1983)

I know what you are thinking. Where’s “The Godfather Part 2” (1974)? I thought that was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Not a lot of action in that one, just a lot of talking.

De Niro has made a lot of other good movies like “Angel Heart” (1987), “Jacknife” (1989), “Awakenings” (1990), “Guilty By Suspicion” (1991), “Mad Dog & Glory” (1993), “Analyze This” (1999), “Killing Season” (2013) and lots more. His acting started to get worse and worse the more he talked about politics.

Sometimes a Great Notion is without a doubt #2, because the emotionally-hard-hitting/ GUT-WRENCHING factor is #1, and Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, Hud, and The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean should eliminate Slap Shot, Absence Of Malice (because the biggest over-actor EVER in the history of the fuckin PLANET, sally fields, is in it), and Fort Apache The Bronx (even though that film was instantly seared into my psyche forever 42 years ago when I was 25). and as well, Road To Perdition was a top tier movie, but Newman’s role didn’t “make the film”… so it wouldn’t be on the list (mine being about him). Btw, Paul Newman should have a top 20 list where most great actors would only get 10. But oh yeah; there are a few others who also get 20.

Absence of Malice is a great film BECAUSE Sally Field is hate-able. I haven’t seen Roy Bean, I’ve seen Hud a long time ago and can’t remember it and I didn’t like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof because the biggest over-actor EVER in the history of the fuckin PLANET Elizabeth Taylor is in it.

Nope. Sally Fields really and truly made me want to vomit the most when she portrayed Julia Robert’s mother, and cried out in the graveyard scene. But thankfully, when she screamed that she just wanted to hit something, a far greater scene followed when Olympia Dukakis replied; “Here! Hit Weeza!” and then the incredible best scene of the flic was when Shirley McClain had a hissy-fit slamming her ass onto the granite bench and retorted with; “You are EVIL and you must be destroyed.” And nope; Elizabeth Taylor wasn’t even close to being an over-actor. not in that particular flic anyway. Btw, you don’t eliminate a great performance by whining like a little bitch that an actor you don’t like is merely in it – unless they RUINED the movie AND the actor we are talking about’s role!! Fields did that by being Newman’s PRIMARY relationship as the love interest in Absence. Newman had SOOO many different exchanges with the other characters in Cat… especially his relationship with his dad and brother’s POS wife, and his idiot brother, and his mother – as the dutiful kiss-ass wife of a tyrant! Aaaaand… Taylor ended up being the least cunty relative in the entire story.

My top 10 Stephen King stories made in to movies (in order):

1. The Shining (1980)
2. The Dead Zone (1983)
3. Delores Caliborne (1995)
4. Carrie (1976)
5. Misery (1990)
6. Thinner (1996) Joe Mantegna is really good in this one.
7. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) It’s the story of Ellis “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman), a poor man that plays the blues harp, who meets Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a rich man who listens to opera like The Marriage of Figaro. The two meet in prison and realize they have a strong sexual attraction to each other and decide to continue their relationship after they get out of prison on the romantic beach of Zihuatanejo.
8. The Green Mile (1999)
9. Secret Window (2004) One of the only movies I like with Johnny Depp in it.
10. 1408 (2007)

I am going to discuss some Tom Hanks films. This is not a top 10 because I am not a Tom Hanks fan. Smarmy hypocrite and possible pedophile Hanks has been walking back woke statements he has made in the past lately. Hanks has generated literally billions of dollars for the movie industry but I just don’t like him. 1. Apollo 13 (1995). This movie is epic and I love it. Director Opie (Ron Howard) is magnificent and the entire all-star cast is just fabulous especially Ed Harris. I would say that this is Hanks best performance. The story is pure fiction. 2. That Think You Do! (1996). Directed by Hanks, this is a really close second to Hanks best performance. Hanks IS Mr. White in this film. I have to say I love this movie too. 3. Cast Away (2000) Mostly a one-man show by Hanks. The plane crash scene is phenomenal but spending too much time with Hanks on a desert island while he acts like a cave man gets old. 4. Saving Private Ryan (1998) You may have noticed (probably not) that this one didn’t make my top 10 favorite war movies list. The battle scenes are great and a lot of the dialog and acting are very good right up until they find Ryan. When they find him, world weary soldier Private Ryan looks like he just got out of the beauty parlor with some fresh hair gel in his perfectly quaffed hairdo. Matt Damon and… Read more »

Please don’t misunderstand me. I didn’t mean for that question to be taken in a negative, condescending or patronizing way. A friend of mine who is a college professor that visits this website from time to time had mentioned to me that there were several highly educated people that write comments on here and I am liking what I am seeing so far. You apparently took your education very seriously Heinz Nazijewburner. Good for you.

Well let’s use Heinz Nazijewburner as an example. Just from his name would you say he is a well educated adult? I don’t think so. You would probably say that he seems like an immature irritating child. Let’s look at one of his comments. “You fingered a crybaby??? I dont wanna hear that shit, you buttfucking rock spider” Notice the punctuation. Does that sound like something a sophisticated mature educated adult would say? I think not. If I was to assess Heinz Nazijewburner’s level of education I would say that he is struggling to pass the 3rd grade this year and may have to stay back a year or two. I would also suspect that he is not popular in his peer group and he gets ridiculed and bullied often for his stupidity. His teachers are probably disappointed in his work and spend time talking to his parents to find out why he is such a scatter brained idiot.

I would say he has been around the internet for some time and most likely visited the chans and if old enough the news groups.
The spelling and punctuation are meme-esque and so is the name.
It would be impossible from what he says to know anything of his actual education or age.
You are just projecting your own bubble-think. For example my abilitiy to spell and punctuate is very low and has very little to do with my education. My use of commas is in the English style rather than the US style and I also do not communicate through a smart-phone that forces certain conventions.

If I was to compare you to the gift-giver then it would be you I think is still at school and have much more to learn than him.
I would class him as an old-fag and you a firm and wanton hole ready for your first stevie-injection.

Hallelujah” is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, originally released on his album Various Positions (1984). Achieving little initial success,[1] the song found greater popular acclaim through a new version recorded by John Cale in 1991. Cale’s version inspired a 1994 recording by Jeff Buckley that in 2004 was ranked number 259 on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”. The song achieved widespread popularity after Cale’s version of it was featured in the 2001 film Shrek.[3][4] Many other arrangements have been performed in recordings and in concert, with more than 300 versions known.[5] The song has been used in film and television soundtracks and televised talent contests. “Hallelujah” experienced renewed interest following Cohen’s death in November 2016 and re-appeared on international singles charts, including entering the American Billboard Hot 100 for the first time.[6] History Leonard Cohen’s studio recording 0:26 Partial excerpt of first verse and chorus. First included in Cohen’s 1984 album Various Positions. Jeff Buckley “Hallelujah” cover excerpt 0:31 From the album Grace, released in 1994. In 2007, Sony BMG rereleased the album (subtitled “The Legacy Edition”) with a live music video of the song. Problems playing these files? See media help. Cohen is reputed to have written around 80[7] to as many as 180[8] draft verses for “Hallelujah”—a number affected by the accounting question that he had many versions of the same line.[9] Cohen is said to have claimed 150 draft verses, a claim substantiated by his notebooks containing manifold revisions and… Read more »
