A British couple, Nigel and Fiona, are on a cruise ostensibly because that’s what couples who’ve been polite to each other need, after several years of tumbles in bed. They meet a French-American couple, Mimi and Oscar, which spruces up their otherwise languid cruise. Nigel between his hypocritical stammers can’t take his eyes off Mimi, something noticed by both his wife and Oscar – a failed writer, now resigned to being a cripple in a wheelchair for life. Oscar pierces through the British couple’s formal veil and forces a friendship by titillating Nigel with sexual tales from his dark relationship with Mimi.
Bitter Moon is among Polanski’s best, despite the initial critical contempt.

Clocking in at 2:19:52 you’d think it might drag a little but it maintains a brisk pace and held my attention throughout, even though it is basically a story from a Harlequin Romance novel. In all seriousness this website should have the “Romance” category along with the other categories like “Puking,” “Snuff,” “Scat,” “Torture” and “Nazism-Fascism.” It’s a good movie and I liked it a lot. 4 stars. The only question I had at the end of the film was which character I hated more than the others. I decided Nigel was the biggest cunt of them all but opinions may vary.
This is a disgusting, mean spirited film only a satanic jew would think to create. So it’s perfect for EUM.
The First half sucked, but the rest of the movie was pretty gripping. I like the subtle occult imagery in the final party scene.
