Descent begins with the idea of how someone or something in life can force itself on you and convince you that you’re not the hot shit you believed you were. It’s not just the puncturing of your balloon, it’s also the spiral of self-doubt you’re sent down.
Maya, a multiracial undergrad at a prestigious university has a few close friends but doesn’t care much for socializing. She’s sure of what interests her and walks around with a certain polite apathy that makes randoms quickly understand she will never be one of them. At a college party, a football player, Jared, insists on wooing her and persists for days despite her rebuttals. Eventually his tales of having other skills in addition to being a general chad interest her, and after a stargazing session she follows him back to his room. By this point, he’s no longer the one keeping the conversation up and the earlier dominance Maya held through mystery and silence has shifted. Once in bed, Maya tries to stop it going beyond a kiss, perhaps to regain control. But Jared’s done with his act and proceeds to rape her while also racially insulting her. Basically, What’s that rarefied air you walk in? You’re supposed to only behave in a way that doesn’t confuse or unnerve me. Don’t step outside my comfort zone.
The rape, but more Jared’s views of her as subhuman, leaves Maya shattered for a while. Eventually she starts hanging out at clubs frequented more by blacks and here she picks up on power games that are normal or part of one’s sexuality.
Descent is almost a film of two halves. The scenes leading up to Maya’s rape showcasing the transfer of power are quite brilliant but then the movie drops off for a while becoming almost generic. A good watch though for fans of the Rape-Revenge genre.
This guy is ugly and corny as hell, can’t believe she fell for his act. She was supposed to be smart.
Sound quality is horrendous, couldn’t hear half of it.

God made Adam and Eve, not Adrian and Jared. This is obviously a “must watch” video on EUM. Decent (see what I did there) revenge film. I’d give it about 3 stars.

Basically the scripts are little off from reality, although the starring cast reasonable go along with the story, however a low degree in performances.
Brutal revenge plot we’ve all seen before …all I can say is to the actor who plays Jared ,you will be pigeon holed as the guy who got ass fucked in that Rosario Dawson movie ….good luck at Hollywood casting calls .next stop Diddy’s house parties, this is Puffy’s favorite movie .
I wish I was Jared chained up and Adrian can be some triggered parent whos kid I diddled. 10/10.
