Plot – Spoilers:
In a world straight out of a game, a hobo tries to stay low and keep out of trouble. All he wants is a lawnmower, so he can earn a living rather than wait on stray coins from passerbys. But instead of the lawnmower, a shotgun is forced on him and he goes where no shotgun has gone before.
The Hobo looks like Anthony Hopkins and sneers like Clint Eastwood, while reminding us that The Hitcher is not on this website yet.
Hobo with a Shotgun is downright ridiculous at times, but the gore is clean and it has plenty of nods to other films and incidents, most notably during the schoolbus burning scene where the song Disco Inferno plays – a reference to the murder of Suzanne Capper where the killers sang the line “Burn baby burn” while setting the victim on fire.
what a fucking chad tbh
over the top gore and action, fun
So bad , that it’s better than good…
A bit boring. Seen it all before.
LOL, this is a good film. It IS worth a watch. 6.1 IMDB…the over the top ridiculous scenes are
how the hobo sees things….through an exaggerated lens; all of it is purposeful and meaningful.
This film is an allegory for the tribulation. Hobo is Michael, the pros/teacher is christ, or the literal exaltation of God as her name suggests Abby means the joy/exultation/rejoicing of God.
Drake…as his name suggests, is the dragon/monster/satan. Look it up. Also the name drake is associated with the number 3. he is the head of the snake. There are countless references in this film to all of this,
including biblical, norse, and gaelic mythology. The homeless stand for those left behind after the rapture. Michael sends Satan and his soldiers back to hell….(see scene where slick gets taken by burning bus to hell). So much more to see and comment on…so many easter eggs, but uh…
rewatch it with this in mind.
I think vic has the hots for zed man.get a room xxx
Honestly Zed does have a point. You don’t really need to watch a Rutger Hauer movie to know that he will be playing the stereotypical Hollywood caricature of a viilain with a cheesy storyline made up by the same guys that write the Schwarzenegger scripts. Hats off to Zed Man for having the foresight to write a review that is right on the money without having to watch it. Brilliant!
Have you seen ”Homo With A Snotgun”? Its an awesome film. It stars Rutter Noser. LOL.
Never heard of this one tbh but looking forward to it. Rutger Hauer always plays the bad guy in films, I think he just has that look. His standout role would have to be ”The Hitcher”, one of the awesomest films ever. Also starred opposite Sly Stallone in ”Nighthawks”, another great movie, not to mention numerous others.
You’re “looking forward to it.” We will be waiting with bated breath for your expert analysis of this film. By the way, I have never seen this film but I know for sure it totally sucks – Rutger Hauer’s in it.
LMFAO, I always thought of Rutger Hauer as a poor mans version of Dolph Lundgren. Both r kings of meh direct-to-video too! Imo this film is average at best btw, 4/10, forced, prbly didn’t have much of a script. Fukn sorry I rewatched this dreck tbh. Even ol Ricky couldn’t save it. Thx as always tho admins;)
@Zed Man: Those 2 r good, but not including blade runner (obv), my fav film w him is Surviving the Game, which to b fair is another kinda shitty action flick…
Hey Elliot, long time no speak. ”Surviving The Game” is another one I never heard of so I will be sure to check it out. Thx for that. Also, I recall you mentioning ”Charlottes Net” awhile back. I did some digging and its not gonna be released till December 31, and most likely relegated to Tor and banned everywhere else. I am gonna look for that one just cause its Australian made. Cheers!
Any tickets for the dunny, mate? Something like that, is all the Aussie slang I can remember;) Had an old buddy that lived there for a while, lol. Ya I forgot to respond to ya a while back, sry. I had heard about the Charlotte’s Net release date, thanks for the reminder tho bc I would’ve forgotten to look;) Tbh I’ve barely seen shit recently worth mentioning, as far as new horror films go, imo. Censor, Caveat, and Sound of Violence were alright, definitely passable, Concrete Savannah was pretty cool actually, imo. Titane (titanium, french, woman fucks a car and has a car baby) was a *massive* letdown. The tale of a film that didn’t know what it wanted to be, like Martyrs:D That’s all that really comes to mind right now tbh. Necrostorm’s more recent films r sic, I love all their stuff tho.
Two old Aussie films I always loved were Incident At Ravens Gate, as well as Death Warmed Up. Both have really strange, surreal, n desolate vibes to em. If ur Aussie tho uve prbly already seen em, I would hope. Just making sure tho! Anyhoo, always nice chatting, Zed;)
Cheers mate, get a dog up ya. Another famous Aussie saying. Lol.
No, he was the Good Guy in”Blind Fury”.
Been wanting to see this one for awhile now. Definetly live up to the hype. Thanks again EUM.
one of my fav’s. thanks, effedup. “let’s fuck.”
