Plot – Spoilers:
A Belgian cattle farmer Jacky belongs to a family involved in the use of illegal growth hormones – their latest product is designed to cut the fattening process by a couple weeks.
Jacky himself is a heavy user of steroids that mostly revolve around testosterone. His use goes back to something that happened as a kid. This scene, in fact, will most likely briefly mess with your breathing, particularly if you’re male.
Jacky has been obsessed with a girl from his childhood, that circumstances prevented him from pursuing. Now, as part of a new deal with the hormone mafia, he meets an old friend from back then, who is more put together unlike the simmering Jacky whose pain and loneliness seem like they’ve been waiting to ignite.
This is a masterpiece! Realistic AF, no cheesy lines, great story and excellent acting! Don’t know if it belongs in this site though because the only disturbing scene (obviously the one with his balls getting crashed by a stone while he was a kid) isn’t long enough (6-7 seconds) and we don’t see anything other than imagine it since at that scene we can see only his younger self in agony. The whole hormones and brutality correlation is 100% on point, most bodybuilders who take steroids (growing hormones for muscle hypertrophy) are constantly aggressive and bad tempered. Not a fucked up movie but certainly a GREAT drama that worth been seen by everyone!! 10/10
I liked this movie a lot, the ball scene as a kid wasn’t too bad not brutal at all. I think the scene with the calves displayed his wish for children or something like that.. however I liked the movie a lot. Not the best ending but it was fitting for the movie. Would definitely recommend even tho 2h is pretty long and you need to keep track of the characters.
