The Sadness begins like all promising violent movies. A couple indulges in idle pillow chat and even experiences a little heartache because they won’t be seeing each other for the next few hours while one leaves for work. Basically, the opening is deliberately so full of shit, you can’t wait for it to all get torn apart.
Obviously COVID-inspired, there’s a flu-like virus going around Taiwan that’s ignored by most until a mutation turns people ultra-violent and unlike other flesh cravers we might have seen before. Here, they are horny too, leading to their darkest sexual thoughts finding expression finally.
I was expecting something different in this movie, something more serious like “Contagion” (2011), but it ended up being a stupid zombie/gore type film. I lost interest about 30 minutes in but I hung in there until the end. 2 stars.

It’s a great movie, heartbreaking scenes, sounds that make you want to cringe, great effects. Though the some of the acting was a bit inhuman, like on the train. Who reacts like those passengers in the situation???

I’m quite surprised people here like this movie. I personally adore it, watched it many times, but people in Taiwan do not so much, they even ranked it relatively low in some local movie sites.

Good movie, quality is fine, definetly grossed me out in the best way, i dare to say this is THE movie to enjoy once you find this page for the first time, it has a little bit of the best you could ask in a gore movie.

Good effects, ticks along at a great pace and set pieces are good. That said, there is no character development for the lead actress (Kat) and hence I had no investment in her and wasn’t comcerned if she lived or died (as opposed to the lead characters in similar films like 28 Days Later and Train to Busan where there was character development). I actually found Kat annoying to be honest and her boyfriend somewhat of a ‘door mat’. I was rooting for the old guy with the axe. That aside, still a good film and definitely worth a watch for the gore etc. For me, a weak 4/5 brolly’s for Molly.
Very solid movie. It’s based off my favorite Garth Ennis comic (Crossed) and that’s coming from someone who hates Garth Ennis! I prefer it over Crossed personally, mostly cuz I hate Garth Ennis, but also cuz this movie was solid. Good gore, meh acting, good gore, and some cool scenes. My favorite scene was the blood orgy, cuz it reminded me of South Park, and I liked South Park, so I giggled and shat my pants. Would suggest it. But bring diapers, as you may shit yourself cuz of all the giggling you’re gonna do.

Sorry, but is the director not Canadian? In my opinion, the movie is good, but I must have seen too much of this stuff, it makes me want to do something else…. Hollywood now seems to believe there is money in this! Which makes one wonder… Let me give it another try, since the Admin(s) cannot be persuaded to change his/hers:their mind(s) about what effedup is. Recently, I saw ‘Teheran: City of Love’, a masterpiece by Ali Jaberansari from 2018. A policeman working at a totally corrupt police station charged with doing something about drug dealing in Teheran. Here you get the real stuff: corruption, raids on the poor, drug addiction, true despair and sickness, overcrowded jails, psychological torture, up to the hanging of a line of ‘criminals’ (are they really criminals?). All this by amazing actors and at a breathtaking pace. If I am able to find this film on the web, so can you: do it! It will change your mind. Secondly, I mentioned this film before: ‘Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn’ from 2021 by Radu Jude, one of my favorites. What a fantastic movie! It has all that you may want (apart from this boring gore): nudity, public humiliation, and a message: a foreshadowing of what will happen to the US if these Christian fundamentalists get it their way: then you and all of the US will be really effedup!! Solid horror movie with crazy gore scenes. Basically a movie of the ‘Crossed’ comics IMO. Resolution not the best ,but cannot complain with free movies.
This being a Taiwanese film, I can’t help but think that this is a dig at China for releasing their virus, seeing it was made in 2021, at the height of the pandemic. Good effort though.
