Plot – Spoilers:
Salo is often at the top of any list or discussion on effed up movies, and there’s a reason why. Not only is it a masterfully directed tale adapted from ‘The 120 Days of Sodom’ by Marquis de Sade, Salo is also as disturbing as movies can get without resorting to gore or explicit sequences.

The Sade book was written in the late 1700s while Salo is set during the final years of WW2. In fact, Salo was the name of a part of Italy under the (puppet) control of Nazi Germany. In this political and social climate, four powerful and wealthy perverted men buy 18 teenagers to partake in extended debauchery and perversion in a palace. Joining them are three madams who helped arrange the teens, a pianist and a group of young soldiers to help maintain decorum and also because some of them have large cocks.

The four Masters include a Judge, some kind of President and two brothers, a Duke and Bishop. Before leaving for the palace, they marry each other’s daughters and these girls join them in the palace. They are always in the nude and mostly servile, helping in serving food and similar docile activities.

The Madams who themselves were abused as children, have grown into facilitators of abuse. They regale the men with perverse stories and incidents from their lives in an attempt to arouse them. The Masters are empty and when fleeting moments of sexual arousal arrive, they are desperate to act immediately upon them.

As the days roll by, the perversions get more and more extreme, culminating in a day of violent excess.

If you’re not a coprophiliac, Salo can be a sort of eye opener on connoisseurs of shit as they provide a delicate examination on the varied tastes and refinements of human shit.

This comment section is fucking deplorable…Funny thing here is that among all of the replies, all you see is Nazi this and Jew that, when the film is adapted straight from the book, which was written by DeSade in and around 1785 while he was institutionalized at Bastille, and not published until 1904 after the writings were recovered from the wall of what was his cell over 100 years later. WAY WAY WAY before Hitler was even fucking born, So stop the Nazi shit, this film, like the novel, has nothing to do with Nazism…Like it or not DeSade has… Read more »

The parasitic sycophants execute dissolutely bereft commentary, it’s transparent marauding.

so many edgy little neonatzis in these comments… either way, the film was underwhelming at best, definitely doesn’t deserve the hype it was so well acclaimed for. Definitely did not end the way i expected, but didn’t end satisfactory either. Glad i watched it now though, so i never have to watch it again. i’ve seen far better films than this that are criminally underrated. i rate 4/10. poor writing and acting, and was just boring in general.

That’s not the full movie! It’s missing scenes! I’ve looked everywhere, rented the dvd, watched the criterion and now this! They’re all missing scenes! I’m not referring to the scenes that where cut before the release. You can see pictures of the missing scenes on IMDb proving the film has been digitalised. If you can’t find the correct copy don’t put uncut in the title! The website itself is excellent but this I specific page disappointed me. Please consider removing the word uncut from the title.
Thank you

this movie is extremely underwhelming, especially when deciding to watch it after reading a bunch of reviews that talk about how “disturbing” it is. didn’t know a movie that mainly consists out of repetitive low end torture and a too large amount of coprophilia is worthy of all this attention. do yourself a favour and DONT waste your time on this bullshit.

One of my top movies, a classic, a masterpiece, inspired(and representative) by one of the most twisted books ever, 120 days of sodom.

Not to sound weird, but I kinda like this movie. Yeah, it’s f*cked up, but in a way it’s also pretty. Music, costumes, actors…if not for the overplayed r*pe and sh*t eating scenes, I would probably re watch this just for the aesthetic.

This movie literally represents us today.

The Neofacism we face. Corporations ruling our lives.
Girone della Merde represents how we eat shit constantly from corporations with the belief that what we’re eating is “Healthy”

Girone del Sangue represents how these people in power play God.
Look at health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies in America.
A Helo ride to the hospital costs an American up to $350,000.00

The “Studs” represents our law enforcement
