Plot – Spoilers:
Eva is a married writer and professional traveler who one wild night has unprotected sex and gets pregnant. Her career ambitions are put on hold and she finds it hard to enjoy the process of pregnancy like other women around her. In fact, it disgusts her at times.

When Kevin is born, he just won’t stop crying when he’s with Eva. Her awkward attempts at bonding with him get more forced and pathetic as he grows older. This is exacerbated by Kevin who grows up manipulative and with a cunning disposition belying his young age. It’s almost like he senses Eva’s desperation and gets a sadistic pleasure from denying her, while being friendly with his father.

Eventually, Kevin does something so horrific, Eva is left to face the brunt of society’s fury while refusing to give up on her biological connection with Kevin.

Random Thoughts:
A favorite scene is Eva standing by the men drilling, just to shut out the noise of Kevin’s persistent crying. So was Kevin born a psychopath, or created? His sister Celia seems diametrically opposite, though one could argue that Eva practiced on him while bringing up Celia differently. The counter is that plenty of people have evil mothers but don’t do the things Kevin did. And Eva can hardly be considered pure evil.

Also, who suffers from the greater inhumanity? Kevin or the people around Eva who’re forever pulling her up for his crimes. It probably doesn’t help that she sold all her property to fight his case, but you still wonder…

Ezra Miller. I’d love to nail him to a gyno exam chair, cut his balls off and fuck the open wound with a 25 inch strap on.

I really loved this movie but
(spoiler warning) !

get real he did not kill multiple people with a bow and arrow. it should´ve been a gun a bow and arrow. someone could´ve tackled that away or fought him down, itś not an automatic firing weapon.

i still loved the movie tho

Well, that was boring as shit. Half en hour into the movie, and I still couldn’t tell what was going on. And not in a good way. It wasn’t intriguing. It was annoying. The only message that was clear was everybody’s indifference: they are not bad people, they are not unkind, they just are not interested in each other, they don’t give a shit about what the other one thinks, feels or wants, nor why. And that’s when shit happens. But at least they were supposed to know what they themselves wanted. You wanna live in NY, travel, never have kids? Do just that. But somehow the society always manage to coerce people – women in particular – that not wanting kids is unnatural, even evil. Well, motherfuckers, there you go – get a mass murderer who was just bored with the way things were, probably because nobody ever really talked to him, nobody ever bothered to know who he was.
And – another issue, an aftertaste one – the death sentence. I get chills thinking of what that sweet fucker will become after a couple years in prison.
On the aesthetics’s side – why all the male cast is so freaking ugly? Was it done on purpose?

Some people are just born that way, the surroundings and society are just triggers. They’re like time bombs waiting to be activated.

SPOILER ALERT – DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE!!!
Tilda Swinton is superb in this film. All three kids who played her son were so annoying that I was hoping she would strangle them before the implausible arrow shooting finale. Really good movie though.

This was a good movie. Too bad both parents weren’t smart enough to get that kid psychiatric help or even give the kid any kind dicipiline. If that was my kid, I’d put his ass in military boot camp with a few good old fashioned, passionate ass whoopins before hand. pretty sad actually that it turned out this way.

Really original stylistically, well directed, and interesting editing and screenplay. Greenwood gets an A+ for the music as usual. but we do need to talk about kevin lol. his character was a little over the top such as his little speech at dinner with mom. when he wasnt being a stereotypical rebel he was straight up annoying. i feel like they could have made him a little more dead pan or gave him some sort of redeeming quality. but maybe i hate him for personal reasons since i was a faggy little high-school outcast/moron at one time as well. cool movie overall though.

Eva was a terrible woman. She had a duty of care to her daughter to protect her from her son who she knew was a dangerous predator. I get the title of the film is a reference to the fact that her idiotic husband simply couldn’t accept the fact his son was a dangerous maniac, but she sacrificed her beautiful, innocent second born to that thing on the hunch that maybe, everything will be okay. The only issue I take with this brilliant film is Kevin is a little too openly hostile towards his mother when a ‘good’ psychopath will show no outward hostility to anyone at all until their anti-social behavior turns criminal and they’re apprehended by law enforcement to the shock of everyone around them. Check out Piers Morgans’ interview with the ‘real Kevin’ Paris Bennett and listen to the creature wax lyrical at Piers about how much he ‘loved’ his baby sister (who he raped and murdered at 14 years of age) and how he wants to have a ‘loving relationship’ with his mother who he ‘feels’ for. Meanwhile Quantico profilers sit in the next room warning her that if he were to be released, she’d be a dead woman. In a strange way though, I have to pity Kevin as he’s portrayed in this film. At the end of the day, nobody asks to be born a hideous emotional cripple without a conscience. I also find it interesting that many young girls who watch this film… Read more »

Great movie, however putting it in the “mass killings” category is sort of a huge spoiler
