In a Louisville warehouse, an old-timer trying to make a new employee feel welcome, takes him down to the basement to show off what’s stashed there – military-owned drums containing the living dead and toxic gas that got mistakenly delivered to the warehouse decades back. The two fuck up, unleash the sleeping dead, release the toxic gas to wake up more of the dead and get infected themselves. There’s also a group that claim to be punk, hanging out at a nearby graveyard.
The Return of the Living Dead is packed with overacting b-actors who probably believed this to be their breakout moment. Especially the older ones. There are also plenty of idiotic characters like this one girl eager to get naked in a graveyard before instaregreting it because acid rain. Her sexual fantasy is to be torn to pieces by old people and though she’s granted her wish, the makers of the film sadly bail out on what should have been the crowning moment of her life and the film. In direct contrast to her, there’s another girl who insists on keeping her feet together even in the most dire situations, which is kind of funny to watch. These are the kind of little oddities worth looking out here for.
Want to see a kooky comedy about zombies? I don’t. 2 stars.
Clu Gulager, who plays the part of “Burt” in this film, was in a great film called “The Glass House” starring Alan Alda. In “The Glass House” Clu Gulager is a rookie prison guard who discovers corruption going on in the prison. It’s a really good fucked up movie.
Literally my favorite movie. I’ve watched it at least once a year for the last 20 years.
I liked that nude dancing scene. Trash has a lovely tight body and her shaven vagina is a delight.
