The final days of Hitler in his Berlin bunker. This is a German take on the events, a couple of decades after the American 1981 movie, Bunker.
As Germany faces defeat with the Russians closing in, some Nazis start planning for the future while other stay, unwavered by the futility of it all.
Bruno Ganz as Hitler is the standout here. You know you’re in for a great performance early on, when you see Hitler polite and respectful to the women queueing up for a secretarial job with an eye for exactly who he wants and bored by the others, and then shortly after, exploding with passion and rage when with his officers. And the performance only gets better as Hitler constantly swings between despondency and delusional optimism as he feels betrayed by the Nazis he considers close to him.

This movie is an excellent portrayal of the sort of embarrassing madness that comes when you disavow the dignity of your fellow humans and seek absolute power. Hitler lacked courage, mental fortitude, and was completely and pathetically unmoored from reality. His descent into cruelty and insanity stained an entire country.
Notice the similarity to modern-day America. Just like Hitler in this movie, America’s current leadership doesn’t concern itself with truth or facts. Trump is sucking the blood from America and its people, shitting in our wounds, and telling us every step of the way he’s helping us. Thank God he’ll be senile or dead soon.
Americans – let this movie be a dark warning to you. Our country is entering a period of intense hardship entirely ushered in by Trump. He doesn’t care about you and he doesn’t care about me. Just like Hitler, he only cares about his own glorification.
Brilliant film. Superb production. Probably about as close as you can get to what happened in the final days, even though told through a German perspective. This is a 5 star film.
After the Russians took over Germany, they beat, raped and murdered as many German civilians as they could get their hands on. Then the Americans came in and did the same, then the British, then the French and so on. German military personal were rounded up by the Russians and sent first by railway and then marched through the snow for miles in sub zero temperatures while on starvation diets to Russian gulags. German concentration camps were like holiday retreats compared to the Russian gulags. The Russians were mighty pissed off at the Germans after the war and they treated them accordingly. Torture, daily beatings, standing outside in 30 degrees below zero temperatures while Russians dump buckets of ice water over Germans until they die, etc. were common practice. A good film about the treatment of German prisoners in Russian gulags is “As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me” (2001). It will almost make you feel sorry for the Nazis.
If Nancy Pelosi’s slimy and demonic rat fuck nephew Gavin Newsom becomes president of the USA in 2028 it is more than likely that history will repeat itself and the final days of a Newsom presidency will be very similar to what happens in “Downfall.”

Hitler escaped to Argentina, probably the only country sympathetic to Germany’s downfall that wasn’t destroyed in the war. There’s old photos of him at dinner parties in the mountains without his mustache. Plus multiple eye witness testimonies from locals as heard in the documentary Grey Wolf here on EUM. Hitler died in Argentina from natural causes not too long after JFK was murdered. They buried him under a tree on a hill over looking the river, with pinecones all around… probably. I dunno. I have watched this movie at the cinema, the best bunker movie, Bruno Ganz is amazing! I wonder though , Hitler had blue eyes , Bruno Ganz also blue why in the movie Hitler had brown eyes? The film was shot mainly at St.Petersburg Russia.

I’m glad this one is on here. Its very interesting and quite touching the see the war from the perspective of the top brass of the Third Reich in their final days along with a few select soldiers and in particular the secretary Junge. Bruno Ganz gave an incredible performance in the movie as well. No other Hitlers came close, in my opinion. Its sad but also quite funny because those parody videos is actually what got me to watch this movie.
