Plot – Spoilers:
Milos is a retired legendary Serbian pornstar trying to adjust to a family life with wife and son. Into his shiftiness and unease walks a perverse director Vukmir who wants him to star in his upcoming film. The money’s tempting, but the terms are mysterious – Vukmir refuses to provide any details about the kind of film he’s making, or its storyline. Milos probably thinks to himself – I’ve done all sorts of porno, how different or bad can this get?
A Serbian Film has been ripped apart by a sizable section as rubbish, but our view here is that this is one of the true masterpieces of the modern era when it comes to effed up movies. The Director seems like someone who hung around imageboards and onion sites and decided to put together a collection of the worst he had seen. What makes A Serbian Film stand out compared to many other movies in the genre is the acting and the levels of depravity which all seem believable.
Favorite scenes:
This is one of those movies that is a collection of favorite scenes, one after the other. But to pick a few:
1. The whole build-up towards Vukmir’s vision of a relationship between Milos and Jeca:
It’s brilliant in its use of psychological elements. For example, Jeca is first introduced to Milos in a situation that tugs at his paternal, sympathetic instincts. Step by step, he is then titillated into viewing her through sexual eyes.
2. Milos stabs Vukmir’s nurse with a syringe containing a sex-drive drug. She later walks in with a rusty pipe and her vaginal area covered in blood – a crusty pipe providing sexual succor to her heightened desire was all that mattered, even if it was the equivalent of fucking herself to death.
I can see why people see this movie as one of the most disgusting films ever made. To the casual viewer it’s certainly graphic. I was honestly expecting a snuff film, but to my suprise the plot is not too bad. You definitely feel for Milo and the actor did a great job at portaying that fear and confusion.
While not the grossest or most disturbing movie of all time, it does have certain scenes that leave a pit of dread in your stomach. The film has a decent plot, the actors aren’t too bad. This film is mediocre. But the terrifying thing is there are real sickos like this in the world.
Watching this movie for first time I was very horrified and wasn’t sure wtf was going on but I was also 13 watching it now at 16 it still shocking but I also understand it and see clearly the message the movie is showing or more like shoving it in your face and to a certain level I appreciate that very much. !SPOILERS! This movie was good but brutally fucked up. I was honestly surprised, and relieved that the baby scene really wasn’t as fucked up as it was cracked up to be. Although being fucked up cus it’s a baby, at least it wasn’t graphic. The birth was worse and the part where he realized he was fucking his kid. That fucked me up. But yeah I am really surprised at some of the negative comments when you are on a site literally called effedupmovies. What did you think you were going to find? I didn’t think the acting was top notch, but it did have some unforgettable twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. And the very end before the credits, was disturbingly comical in the worst way possible. It really is a movie, that when it’s finished, you think “what the fuck did I just watch”. I think it’s a good movie and is worth a watch if your into fucked up movies that can really mess up your head for a while.
I love this film. The acting and cinematography are excellent. It has a very polished, finished feel that films with this type of subject matter tend to lack. I was personally impressed. Was it as disturbing as people say? Well, maybe not to me as I immerse myself in material like this daily, but for the average person I can imagine it being a bit sickening, particularly the pedophilia. Still, I’d recommend it.
Gotta say, this is not as bad as I expected. But I certainly wasn’t disappointed either!
Most of the gore in this movie I’ve seen in surface level movies before. Only scene that I actually found kind of fucked up was the baby scene.. But as others have said before, it wasn’t really THAT bad. Super easy to tell it was fake, though I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.

Was expecting much worse due to this film’s notoriety. Anyway, I still thought it was a good movie. I was expecting some dumb provocative gore, and ended up watching a movie that constantly questions it’s own purpose through the subject of snuff movies. I’ll take as proof that it makes you question “how far can a film go ?” the fact that many countries considered this film was going to far. About the directing, I love how the camera is used, the film in the film, the blurry borders between fiction and reality.
I don’t know it wasn’t disturbing to me, but it’s a bit funny that he did all that and didn’t even get paid ????

The movie was good, but why did they have to swear? They cursed though the whole move. Everybody in the film had potty mouths. After we watched the movie, I told my children that I never heard them talk like they did in the movie. If I knew the movie has this foul language in it, I wouldn’t had let my 8 year son watch it with us.

Growing up I heard so much about this movie being one of the worst films and that’s the reputation that has been built for it, But it’s certainly not what it lives up to. There are scenes that are sort of difficult to watch sure. But it doesn’t live up to the hype of being one of the worst if not; ever.
The camera work is wonderful, The music only gets better over time. And the story is not piss poor.

Well I guess everyone has to weigh in on A Serbian Film. My 2 cents is that this is not a B movie. The production values are pretty great here. It’s a fun little roller coaster ride. And nowhere near as disturbing as people say. If you like this website, there’s a good chance you will like this movie.

Hot take: Salo was honestly more horrific than this. Why?
A Serbian Film gives you about a goddam hour to deal with “oh no our protagonist is a porn star” as if that’s a horror in itself (surprise: it’s not). Sure, it sets the viewer up for the inevitable horribleness of all the rape, but at least this movie gives you a protagonist who is skeptical, unwilling, and then deeply guilty with what he’s done. This movie is gritty but in a way that makes it ‘aesthetic’. It’s very Bruckheimer/CSI with all its greens and pushed oversaturation.
Salo is banal. A lot of people call it boring because they fail to connect with how real evil is deeply cheesy and banal. Certainly a lot of the content of Salo seems tame today IF IT WERE CONSENTUAL. But the thing about Salo is that it’s wall to wall RAPE. Child rape. Yes, a Serbian Film’s twist is bad, but it’s not constant bad jokes and shitbirds reveling in how much they love raping kids.
In conclusion, this is a rough one, but Donald Trump actually in real life did the dumb shit in Salo and that’s the absolute worst.

first of all I do not watch horror movies, I don’t watch porn, I don’t watch gore video footage, but I gave this one a shot out of pure boredom, because I heard it’s fucked up.
It’s great. I haven’t felt anything while watching this, and that is the thing I enjoyed. I know I am supposed to feel some negative emotions, and in the lack of their existence I find enjoyment and satisfaction.
That’s is the reason I am going to be watching stuff like this from now on, I am not sure why other people watch it but my educated guess is to feel something.
I see this as a commentary on the evils of pornography and how indulging too much on it will make you addicted, crave more and different until you become desentized and fall into depravity, especially males. Don’t watch porn m’kay? At least do not do it often, get hobbies, learn something or cut your d ck off.

This is such a good movie, although absolutely disturbing and fucked up its so well done! First time I watched it I had actual nightmares and I really enjoy some messed up shit but its almost better the more I have seen it. I watched this film years ago and this is my 9th viewing. This is a pure MASTERPIECE! Its fucked up its raw it’s true to life. Acting is on some other shit almost like it was all real and just made into a movie. I’ve seen flower of flesh and blood I’ve seen August underground Morderm, Penance I’ve seen slaughtered vomit dolls, I’ve seen most Toe Tag picture films, I’ve seen Snuff 101, I’ve seen them all that are “not underground” A Serbian film is a instant classic pure gold platinum material grade A beef. Anyone who say otherwise was to squeamish to begin with. This movie has soul and that’s what sets it apart from everything else I’ve seen.

An excellent movie: great acting and directing. Has a plot and characters we care about. People knock it because of the content, but if as the director says, it’s a metaphor for present-day effed up Serbia, this needs to be factored in when watching/reviewing it It also implicitly condemns those who exploit others via the Dark Web, which the average person is not necessarily aware of. Ultimately, a very sad and unforgettable movie.
Hacking a woman’s head off and continuing to fuck her during the process is an excellent commentary on how some men actually feel about females! Best scene by far!
