Plot – Spoilers:
Duane and his malformed brother Belial are back.
The fall at the end of Basket Case 1 (1982) seems to have knocked more detailing into Belial’s appearance. It appears that falling from the top floor = 8 years of progress in sfx.
The brothers are adopted by Granny Ruth who has a cult of freaks hidden away in her attic, and among the myriad beings there, Belial finds love. This gives us a memorable creature-porn scene where Belial and his lady love explore and discover each others sex organs and hot spots among all the mounds and protrusions.
Meanwhile, Duane falls in love with Ruth’s granddaughter and wants to leave with her, but a snoopy reporter lady is being a nuisance.
I just watched all 3 “Basket Case” movies in a row. Obviously the 1st one is the best with this one coming in 2nd. Instead of a seedy rooming house in NYC, the location is shot at a posh mansion. There are numerous malformed creatures instead of just Belial this time. This one is pretty good with some fun and funny stuff. 3 stars.
One of those films where you can tell that everyone involved in it’s making was having a great time.
I was depressed as hell before watching this and now I’m happy, smiling and off out.

I just found out that there is a part 3 to this series and watched it on another movie site ( sorry EUM ). Its a must watch to complete the trilogy.

And the captioning… it’s from the first Basket Case. I happened to catch it right as the brother was offering up his entire inventory. Quaaludes… Anybody here remember those things? They were waaaay too much fun so they stopped making them in the early 80s…. anyway, I digress.
