This is a super popular movie and it was a huge success at the box office. Quentin Tarantino said it was one of his favorite movies from the last 2 decades. Critics praised it as one of the greatest films ever made. Really?
This is an action/adventure film for kids. It starts out pretty good but gets real corny about half way. The end, with the stock sounding dramatic orchestra music, was so syrupy and corny I thought I was going to puke. I got bored with the same old “a bunch of kids get shot followed by some corny sentimental dialog” schtick. It has a corny, over dramatic James Cameron feel to it with the stock musical soundtrack and the predictable dialog. I’ll go straight up the middle with this one and give it just a cunt hair over 2 and a half stars. This is not a movie I would ever go to see in a movie theater. It is just too stock and cornball.

Best population control ever
Here we are once again with another Japanese cult classic, what more can I say than this film is bloody fun. Way more entertaining than the hunger games, this is the OG. It is brutal and unforgiving in its depiction of Japanese youths slaughtering each other for survival. I also appreciate the sub version being put up as I think the sub version is an insult as it loses its authenticity.
Tarantino wishes he made this.
