Plot – Spoilers:
Winner of the Palme d’Or and based on the Columbine High School massacre, Elephant doesn’t dwell on or care about motives. Instead, we literally follow the principal characters around school in the leadup to the climactic moments. And when it does arrive, it’s devoid of excitement, adrenaline or any rush. At most you could say the killers looked like they had about as much fun as two friends playing a game casually at home, would.
Elephant might feeling boring at times, but that’s how a regular day at school would feel if you recorded every instance of it. This is a normal day, with an extraordinary ending.
Genres: Based on a True Story, Mass Killings, Teenagers
I’m hoping to watch this someday. I never actually watch the movies on here. I thought the comment section here was not to talk about the movie in question but was sort of like a lonely hearts club – dating/friendship area. Sort of like Facebook. Someone mentioned that the comment section was made so people who actually watch the movies could make comments that would inspire people to watch or maybe not watch the film, based on their opinion. That concept never occurred to me. Well, it’s half past the monkey’s ass – quarter to his balls, so I have to run. Bye for now.
This shit was crazy
Not being from America, please forgive my ignorance.. The actual killers that this is based on.. did they have a homosexual relationship? I quite honestly have no recollection of hearing that other than when people were trying to insult them. (Ave Satanas that we have moved past “gay” being an insult… again, not from America 😉 )
So was this a shitty 2000s jab at the killer’s? I am very curious.
“Climactic”, not “climatic” (which refers to climate).
It was alright. As someone mentioned, anticlimactic. Zero Day is so much better.
Hello! The final was alright! And wow ..this story was real.A decent movie based on true events.
acting wasnt great but it shows how nonchalant the killers were when committing horrible crimes
holy shit, some of these student where complete NPC acting when the bullets started flying.
Interesting that this was based on a true story, but didn’t bother with accuracy. I guess that’s what you call artistic lisence. Only succeeded in boring me. Couldn’t follow the timeline or the character hopping; mostly couldn’t care. Seems like they missed an opportunity to enlighten.
good movie but have u got the one with the actual footage of the school dnt no wot the movie is called but it the true life version of columbine
If you thought either of them were “gay,” you’re unenlightened as Hell.
Zero day was better all around imo but this movie did a way better job with the shooting scene — obv harder to do when doing a strictly found footage movie, but Van Sant had the liberty to more of a cinematic touch to it
The Benny character was incredible btw
I loved the suspense. This one was hard to watch.
mom can we have zero day (2002)?
mom: we have zero day at home
zero day at home:
amazing film! thanks mods!
A film called ‘The Dirties’ (2013) Isn’t a bad watch either. When two best friends team up to film a comedy about getting revenge on high school bullies, the exercise takes a devastating turn.
Over hyped! I would have started the mass shooting scene like Terminator 2, someone just walking down a hallway, slow motion shot of the killers turn the corner, then BOOM! 40 minutes of non stop carnage and much gorier
2/5
Gotta love movied based on this stuff, ive been on a bit of a binge today trying to find all of em
i’ll say it, this movie sucked. i agree with the uploader tho, thats how a normal school day WOULD be, zero day does a better job in pretty much everything though, even the ending is badly acted out, so bad it got even funny
