This was going to be the first movie on here to not be slotted into any genre, yet still be effed up. In any case, there’s only a smattering of the genres that’ve eventually been selected.
A famous Belgian writer is approached by a trio of seemingly loser musicians who want him as their drummer. It seems like an absurd request. But he’s bored with life and his writing’s hit stagnation and so this feels like a harmless way to go slumming and maybe even find inspiration for the next novel.
The trio who each claim to have some sort of handicap aren’t the safe type of folk or class that he’d normally hang with. They’re also actually pretty good musicians. But his fame and connections means they back down whenever he asserts his dominance, something he begins to enjoy, as he realizes how easily he can manipulate them.
Ex Drummer is as much about class wars as it is about the emptiness in an artist’s life.
I liked it how it was filmed, the music and dark humor. Lost little attention by the end but captivating from start.Found as girl the threesome scene very sexy. In the end, the rotten society destroys itself incapable of achieving anything.

Story about shit people living a shit life, poor and rich. Sprawling from Herman Brusselman’s shitty imagination. He only writes shit stories. Totally political and social incorrect movie, but a good one, a very good one. Do not take it too serious and you’ll enjoy it

i liked the cinematogrophy, its just great. the soundtrack is a beauty. and actually the plot seems familiar to the life in a random country, there is a life like that absolutly everywhere. there are always people. and they have many different ways and fates. someone can be rich, someone will have an addiction, wife and a poor child. someone will live with crazy parents. and someone will be addicted from violence, because they never will know what the true love is, they will be hungry for attention.
and there is music. the thing, that connects. even different types of society.
but in the end egoistic and rich mam wins. high society likes to watch freaks, to make moneu from them.
in the end.. someone is loving his woman in a bed without having any guilt, when they should. someone is getting raped, but in the end kills and gets killed. someone gets stabbed, when offering drinks. someone dies from a sick manwith a gun, and someones is a sick man with a gun.
personally i was disguisted by that poor house of Verbeeks. by how parents kill their child. just sad.
This movie really made me hate the Dutch and their stupid made up fucking language. The movie started off interesting enough, but I slowly lost interest as the movie went on. The writer was a posh prick, and the rest of the band were dregs of society, I’m sure there’s a message here in how the posh rich dumb homophobic fucking writer can just slum it one day with people he sees as losers (and he’d be right) and still go back to his albeit hot pretentious bitch of a girlfriend and have their bohemian hedonistic sex in his loft, while he looks back in disgust of the freaks he surrounded himself with for shits and giggles, using these morons for book material. If this movie was supposed to make me hate the rich and the poor at the same time (all of humanity) then it succeeded. Very nihilistic film that meanders, the only saving grace was the great music in the film. I specifically hated that bald misogynistic lead singer (but I did laugh when he forced himself on that dumb gay cripples mom). But I hated everyone equally and left with no enlightenment or any new outlook on life other than I hate the 4channer that made this movie and now I think the Dutch are stupid and have a revolting dumb language. Fuck the Dutch.

I did not understand this movie. The backwards effect at the intro was kind of neat but I had no idea about the upside down ceiling walker guy or the ending.

On the movie, this is one of those ones that you just have to admire the directors and producers vision and commitment to subversive “art” and hope that some of the idiots that think August Underground, Marian Dora, etc is proper subversive art will be converted.
One of my all time favourites under the “truly fucked up” category, it has everything for everyone: extreme violence, unsimulated sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Entertaining movie if you get past the fact that it feels like it was written by a 16 year old who spent the last few months on 4chan. Sort of a bizarre, surreal, black comedy, sort of splatter, psychological drama with a “Trainspotting” vibe to it. It’s pretty good. 3 stars.
