This was going to be the first movie on here to not be slotted into any genre, yet still be effed up. In any case, there’s only a smattering of the genres that’ve eventually been selected.
A famous Belgian writer is approached by a trio of seemingly loser musicians who want him as their drummer. It seems like an absurd request. But he’s bored with life and his writing’s hit stagnation and so this feels like a harmless way to go slumming and maybe even find inspiration for the next novel.
The trio who each claim to have some sort of handicap aren’t the safe type of folk or class that he’d normally hang with. They’re also actually pretty good musicians. But his fame and connections means they back down whenever he asserts his dominance, something he begins to enjoy, as he realizes how easily he can manipulate them.
Ex Drummer is as much about class wars as it is about the emptiness in an artist’s life.
It would be nice if they released this and the other books in the Suddenly nothing happened series in English.

A good watch, excellent music soundtrack throughout and I have not got a clue what this ..trainspoting.. vibe is all about. Unless you think a dead baby is enough. Will be adding their version of mongoid to my drumming practice list.
I did not understand this movie. The backwards effect at the intro was kind of neat but I had no idea about the upside down ceiling walker guy or the ending.

On the movie, this is one of those ones that you just have to admire the directors and producers vision and commitment to subversive “art” and hope that some of the idiots that think August Underground, Marian Dora, etc is proper subversive art will be converted.
One of my all time favourites under the “truly fucked up” category, it has everything for everyone: extreme violence, unsimulated sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Entertaining movie if you get past the fact that it feels like it was written by a 16 year old who spent the last few months on 4chan. Funny at times, some good shots, good music, definitely not boring, but it tries way too hard with the edginess. Haha jews haha blacks haha dumb sluts haha retards haha faggots.
Haha this movie is a fucking trip, i definitely need to revisit this, didnt quite know what to make of it, but i couldnt stop watching it, funny & fucked up & just weird as fuck, i dug it, a great addition & i recommend everyone see it once at least once, it will definitely stay with you & i agree with OMH i can see that “Trainspotting vibe” also, watch it, certain scenes are hilariously………er memorable youll know when you see them lol
Sort of a bizarre, surreal, black comedy, sort of splatter, psychological drama with a “Trainspotting” vibe to it. It’s pretty good. 3 stars.
