Plot – Spoilers:
Teenagers Megan and Amy are best friends who look out for each other. Megan is popular and cooler but with a messed up history. She admires the ostensible stability that Amy represents. Amy in turn looks up to Megan and the fun experiences she seems to have, but is widely acknowledged in Megan’s world as her particularly cringey friend.
The little things that occupy their lives get more meaningful when Megan decides to hook up with someone she just met on the internet.
Megan Is Missing is presented in found-footage format. And while the makers didn’t seem to understand too much of the technologies they referenced, there is a lot to admire here.
Favorite Scenes:
The final scene of digging in silent grunts, oblivious to his victim’s new tactics for survival. There is something so eerily memorable about his focus to his task-at-hand that it felt massively dejavu when 2nd watching it after almost 8 years
I’m screaming, skaterdudes face is sending me 😂💀 holy shit. Okay listen, I’m not gonna give some compelling review of this movie (because it doesn’t deserve one), just sharing some thoughts. But I will say that it’s stuck with me like herpes that just won’t go away. The last 25 minutes scared me shitless when it first came out on Netflix. I was a freshman in college with a natural curiosity for edgelord torture porn shit and discovered this surprising abomination. Upon rewatching, 13 years later, I somehow forgot how unbearable this movie was to get through lol The dialogue between Megan and Amy, specifically when Megan is going into unnecessary detail about sucking dick for the first time when she was 10, is absolutely child pornographic in nature. I’m sitting here wondering how in the hell Goi got away with writing this and am left wondering how parents feel when they let their kids play roles like this. It’s perplexing and disturbing to think Goi fashioned this sick idea to make this movie and sold it to other unsuspecting nobody actors with the guise of it being a cautionary tale of talking to and meeting strangers on the web. At the end of the rape, you see all the life go out of her eyes. It’s the only believable part of her acting.
As poor of the acting and out of touch is, the movie is still very disturbing with the rape, kidnapping, murder, live burial, and over sexualizing of teens. Just a real movie.

I do like found footage (FF) films, but so few are done well. The acting isn’t great in this film but it does enough to establish the closeness of the two friends (Megan & Amy). Its an above average FF film (imo) with the last 25 min definitely ‘lifting’ the film above what has occurred before hand. Indeed, the last 25 min are memorable (‘hits you in the gut’) and reminded me somewhat of a teenage version of the 1988 French film The Vanishing [just an observation Admin, not a request]. Could have been much more with better acting/plot development, but still an entertaining 3/5 teddy bears

I love this movie. I watched it on Netflix when it first came out. Having been raped I think this film did the best they could to make people feel uncomfortable during and it should make you feel that way! Rape is uncomfortable! This shit happens in real life. As a victim I think it’s important for people to see just how disturbing these topics can be, but in my opinion they nailed this for the movie. The ending was just an added bonus of realism. Kudos to this director for having the balls to put this movie out.

It’s a pretty good movie for the most part (I like how they make Megan more of a person than a martyrr unlike a lot of these kinds of stories) but man the ending is a bit underwhelming.

This should be compulsory viewing for teenagers so they can see what can happen when not careful on the net, especially this movie being based on fact. The last 20 mins or so sent shivers down my spine and I must say that eventhough I am an extreme horror fan, this disturbed in a way I cant really explain, except for the fact that this sort of shit probably happens every day. i found myself thinking about this one for a couple days after i watched it, but i don‘t think it was in the way the movie intended. it’s decent at building tension in the middle third, but the first twenty-thirty minutes i found super cringey to get through. Megan is Missing doesn’t do a great job of portraying weird kids, or ‘popular kids’, to be honest. it relies very heavily on us finding amy to be this grubby, obviously unpopular girl, but the only clear indicators of her being awkward pre-party is her Dedication to megan and weirdly hyper-positive relationship with her parents. during the party scene, i realized i was never going to ROOT for amy. she was annoying, and even though she was dragged there, she couldn’t get out of her own way!!! like, i’ve been there, but go find a quiet room dude!!!! like DAMN. i was rooting for megan, tbh, even though i knew from the jump she was gonna die. i got a soft heart for the doomed kids with bad parents! special shoutout to the heavy-handed nature of the narrative as well as the cheesy as fuck dialogue. it did brighten up this sludge with some laughs. the party dudes looking like co-op employees who escaped the weed shed have a special place in my heart, the fucking creeps. from a fucked-up perspective, pretty lame! the one shock-value take and the outstretched bleak ending kinda had me eyeing the ‘time remaining’ piece of my… Read more »

Overall the movie delivers a very powerful message without much gore. Some of the new reporting is corny and takes away from the realism. The character that played Megan however was well cast. Pretty f-Ed up and haunting overall.
So, this is my first post on any of the movies here. I agree with a lot of the criticism—wooden acting, some weird anachronisms regarding the tech of the time and really dodgy decisions on the part of Amy and Megan—but the film is watchable. I got some laughs regarding the ‘Nancy Grace’-ish newscaster character. It’s not as bad as most found-footage offerings.
“Snuff” stuff are always entertaining to watch. This movie reminds you to never trust anyone you meet online. Thanks EUM for uploading this film. This is a great find for this website.

This is what happens when someone who doesn’t understand the internet, teenagers or found footage movies decides to make a found footage movie about teenagers on the internet.
And this is perfect example movie why I try to stay out of chatrooms because of sick creeps because their usually all same and ask same nasty questions. At least with me they do . But I must say I have met very interesting people online. Not all I would invite to hang out with but interesting indeed. The movie is good I feel because it shows just some of what can and does really happen in real life. I seen a movie called * strangeland* I was much younger and it did freak me out a little but made me so more curious about online an people on it . Strangeland was a good movie. Very wild. Also I know this movie isn’t probably on here and might not ever be but one my favorite movies ever will always be * the crow* not the remake shit but the real original with Brandon Lee. That movie is awesome and shouldn’t be touched
