Based on the true story of a girl known by the name Genie, who was strapped to a chair by her father, from when she was an infant right up to when she was nearly 14.
Mockingbird Don’t Sing focuses more on the wild child’s post-escape life, as people around her try to grapple with her version of the world. The girl, who was used to shitting, pissing, puking where she sat, any time the feeling came, possibly found her newfound freedom almost as oppressive as her previous life, with most of the people around her, only looking out for themselves.
Bad made for T.V. type movie with the every terrible Shaun young ,this story could be told much better

A well done movie, the cover of the film is kinda retarded as it makes you think it’s a horror movie. Anyway, it’s another drama movie (there are a lot of those disguised as “effedupmovies” in this site) but I digress, at least they are generally good movies. [SPOILER]the only bad part was when she ends up with a religious fanatic foster family by the middle of it, that was kinda pushing it[SPOILER] but aside from that, it was another great experience: Great acting, an awesome adaptation from an actual story (apparently), I’d rate it a 4.5/5, which in this case is 4/5. But again, false advertising because this is not “effedup” for real. If you are looking for an effedupmovie, keep looking.
Possibly the greatest movie I’ve seen on this site. It wrongfully hints that doctors mean it well and that I don’t like. It would have been a great plot twist if at the ending the good nurse was the crazy mother all along. Ow, and at the final seconds of the reel, saying the movie is entirely fictional doesn’t really help the earlier claims that it was all based on facts haha.
I used to really enjoy going through the comment section on this site before deciding on whether or not to watch a particular movie, now it’s just full of obnoxious cocks with keyboards for fists.. The education system has a lot to answer for..

The real life story is much worse and more fucked up, they had two more kids a girl that died at 1 month old of pneumonia cause the dad placed her in a fucking garage cause he “couldn’t stand her crying” and a boy that had some sort of mental disability. Both died from neglect. Her brother in the movie is also disabled. The mom should be in jail for not reporting child abuse and for her lack of a fucking spine. The girl in this movie never learned to talk normally which proved the theory right.
The parents are really fucked up and should have been sterilized.

Well made film. The story makes your blood boil. It is conveyed through Sandra’s perspective to show that everyone had an agenda except for her. Of course Sandra is pure as the driven snow and would never do anything wrong. (That is why “true stories” need to be filtered to find out who’s perspective it is coming from. Of course the storyteller portrays themselves like saints). All the actors did a very good job. Kim Darby’s performance was very good. I thought Louise should have gone to prison. Dad went out the easy way. It’s a shame. 4 out of 5.
The girl is too big. Katy looked like she was 7 she was so small.
