The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device.

If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check. It's usually a captcha test or simply involves checking a box.

This is a workaround method but has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the normal player will not include subs here.

Plot – Spoilers:
Based on a Herman Melville novel.

Pierre is a young writer whose debut novel, published pseudonymously, holds cult status among young adults. Belonging to a wealthy family, fame too, like money, doesn’t seem to hold much of his interest. He’s instead focused more on a grander second novel while trying to juggle the realities of his impending wedding to a woman he’s not sure, why he dotes on. At home, his widowed mother is authoritative and the two sometimes oddly refer to each other as brother and sister.

Pierre’s father was a well-known diplomat who worked in Eastern Europe, and off-late, a dark-haired trampy woman has been seen hanging around the family chateau and has also begun entering Pierre’s dreams. Pola X is one of those French films with weird nudity such as a mother in a bathtub with her soapy tits floating visibly as she has a conversation with her grown son or the other one, where a weeping sister with her breasts falling out of her dress is comforted by her little brother giving her a stomach massage. Anyway, it’s little wonder that Pierre has been waiting for an excuse to run away from his controlling mother and obsessive girlfriend. And the excuse presents itself when he confronts the tramp-lady and finds out she’s his lost half-sister who illegally arrived in France with another woman and her kid.

Pierre now has a reason to be a tragic martyr in keeping with his aspirations of writing The Great French Novel, and leaves home with haste. His degradation and tumble through several floors of class is quick and overnight, as Pierre with shabby illegal migrants in tow, experiences Paris like he never expected to.

This a beautifully moving movie with a flawed, but well-meaning hero, who believes he’s always doing the right thing.

I have read the admin’s announcment of 4.3. It will be a disaster for all of us non english speakers if the english and especially american movies wont have optional english subs.

Very boring first half, but the second half was a masterpiece! I liked the erotic scene with Pierre and Isabelle, since that scene the movie took off! I also liked the scene where these two were taken away by a river of blood, symbolic of their relation. The movie also shows the high state of conflict and confusion that very rich people with leftist ideas have.3/5

I like these kind of movies where nothing is predictable.
The TV-version cut out the graphic sex I guess?

Coming soon to EUM – “Old Mother Hubbard’s Top 100 Movies On EUM” and “Old Mother Hubbard’s Top 25 Picks For WORST Movies On EUM.” Lots of the EUM faithful are anxiously awaiting these lists. There is already a lot of controversy and chatter about them.

Pola X is a cinematic abomination, a testament to the decay of French culture. Pierre is a weak-willed, self-absorbed fool who can’t even handle his own family drama without turning it into a melodramatic mess. His so-called “artistic vision” is nothing more than a pathetic excuse for his inability to face reality.

The film’s incestuous undertones are as subtle as a kick in the balls, and just as enjoyable. Watching Pierre’s mother bathe while her son gawks at her tits is about as exciting as watching paint dry in a gas chamber. And don’t even get me started on the sister—she looks like she crawled out of a dumpster after a three-day bender.

This movie is a waste of celluloid, a insult to anyone with functioning brain cells. It’s so bad, it makes me long for the days when entertainment was simple and brutal, like watching Jews dance for their lives. At least then, there was some honesty in the suffering.

I’d give this turd of a film a negative rating if I could. It’s a disgrace to cinema, a mockery of true art. Leos Carax should be ashamed of himself for inflicting this on the world. But then again, what can you expect from a country that surrendered to Germany not once, but twice?

You’ll need some serious patience to get through this one. I watched this before I read the description so, quite frankly, I was a little lost at times wondering what the fuck was going on. His relationship with his mother/sister was just weird and confusing. When she dies, Pierre said he didn’t want his inheritance worth millions while he couldn’t afford to buy a Cup of Noodles, which I thought was baffling. I was thinking that Pierre’s long lost sister, who looked like a drugged up Fiona Apple, was either a bullshit artist or a witch that brainwashed him or something but that wasn’t the case either. It’s super long, it drags and it’s confusing at times. Movie legend Laurent Lucas is on screen maybe 4 minutes or less total during a 2 hour and 8 minute movie even though his character is a huge part of the plot. It just didn’t work for me. 2 and a half stars. There’s a longer version? OH NO!!!

Typical frog shit. All yapping but no action. Almost got bored to killing myself due to lack of little boys, though I am sure that would thrill the mega crybabies on here, especially “Tamir”. Too bad. 0/10.
