Wolf Creek (2005)

Option 1Can't Watch?

Wait 30secs. Movie still not playing? Click the "Can't Watch?" tab.

If the movie didn't load, it means you are being blocked by a security service we use. This can happen for a number of reasons.

Click this first

A new tab will open and a basic security check like a captcha will be performed. After completing the check, close that page and return here.

Refresh this page. Wait 30 secs. The movie should load and you can just hit play.

If it still doesn't play, Click here to watch the movie

The movie should now start playing in a new tab of your browser or begin downloading to your device. This option has the minor disadvantage that English-language movies with optional subtitles in the movie player will not include these subs with this method.

The new system here has been designed keeping in mind even people with low internet speeds sub-8mbps. Even if you have a really bad connection, you should still be able to watch the movie without any issues if you:
Start the movie. Pause it. Wait for 30-45 seconds. Start playing again.

This 'Can't Watch' method really only works if it's your specific device/browser that's interfering with the player. There is no real advantage of speed here. Or if there is a temp network glitch or read lag from the server disk.

If you're still having problems, try using 'Incognito mode' in your browser. On iPhones, especially older ones, use Chrome instead of Safari. Might help.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that the newly opened tab is not an ad popup asking you to download some software or whatever. Close any such popups and don't download any software - those are ads. Nothing is needed to be done by you other than to complete the security check which is often automated.

AKA:
Directed by: Greg McLean
Starring: John Jarratt (Mick), Cassandra Magrath (Liz), Kestie Morassi (Kristy), Nathan Phillips (Ben)
Country: Australia, Effed Up Australian Cinema
Language: English (Optional Eng Subs)
Runtime: 01:44:45
Genres: Serial Killers, Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Captivity-Kidnapping, Based on a True Story

Plot – Spoilers:
Couple of Brit girls, Liz and Kristy accompanied by their Aussie friend Ben are journeying across the picturesque outback emptiness and stop over at the Wolf Creek crater.

As the local guy, the onus is often on Ben to figure things out, as the girls gang up to highlight his every fuckup. As it turns out, their car won’t start and they’re left to spend the night outside the incredibly dark and eerily lonely crater. Just then, friendly Mick turns up in his truck, offering to help fix things back at his camp. And so they allow themselves to be towed to camp.

The arrival of handyman Mick further emasculates Ben and he takes to sarcastic jibes to establish his city-boy superiority. The girls are also smug about the potency of their feminine charm and feel it’s good enough fuel to keep the boorish but useful Mick laboring through the night to get their car fixed. Not really.

A pretty creepy film very loosely based on a true story, actually 2 true stories. The director was unhappy with the way the film was going so he had the screenplay rewritten to include elements involved in the true life serial killers Ivan Milat and Bradley John Murdoch, the latter who looked very similar to the guy Ben gets in to a confrontation with at the bar/gas station. Ivan Milat was responsible for the murders of at least 7 people, known as “The Backpack Murders,” and he died in prison in 2019. Bradley John Murdoch was in and out of prison for attempted murder, vehicular homicide, rape and finally the murder of Peter Falconio. Murdoch was released from prison in June 2025 and died in July 2025 of throat cancer at the age of 67. Victims Ben, Liz, Kristy and the killer Mick are all fictional characters in the film. It’s still a good film even though they kind of lied about it being true. 3 and a half stars.

Never seen a movie that was so disturbing. The movie clearly isn’t trying to be disgusting in the way something like ‘Human Centipede’ is and I’d say that makes the disturbing factor that much better. Everything from the lack of escape to the badass trope being morphed into a psychopath is very interesting.

the dumbest kidnapping victims ever meet the dumbest kidnappers in history in a badly written snooze fest with uncharismatic actors and a beyond generic score. 5/10

Great fun! Of all the horrors with a similar theme: people travelling; lost; broken down; ran out of fuel; stranded; etc. and usually of course unable to get a signal on their phone – this is one of the best!

I just don’t understand why everyone seems to love this series so much. I don’t care for it, and can’t seem to grasp the magic everyone else claims to experience from this, or it’s sequel.

Creator, admin, whoever runs or controls this site and is reading this: TYSM! Best movie website out there. Not just this movie but countless others I would’ve never encountered if it wasn’t for this site. Many, many hours of intrigue, shock, disgust, humor, perplexing flims. Thanks a million!!! ????

Hola administrador, bienvenido de mexico.
You make the best movie treasures.
Shit just got real when Mick Taylor says: See? Head on a stick!
John Jarratt and Cassandra Magrath acting is riveting
in the scene where he sticks a hunting knife into her lower back and
severes her spine – leaving her alive
and in shock and paralyzed from the neck down!

This is a classic here in Australia, everyone here knows this film. Also John Jarratts son goes to my school, such a shame his father turned out to be a rapist.

Not as impactful as I remember it to be the first time I saw this (the second one may even be better which saddens me) but John Garrett as Mick is one of the bad best guys ever – pure evil. Highly recommend the second film and TV series too.

Great Aussie film. John Jarratt plays his role to perfection as do the two girls as a pair of airheads who would not have a clue. This film is loosely based on Ivan Milat, the backpacker killer who recently died in jail. I have not seen part 2 yet, hoping it will turn up here eventually. Thx EUM for including some Aussie classics.
