Plot – Spoilers:
The opening track (sung by Breillat) concerns a young girl imploring others to tell her if she’s grown up and what they like about her.
14-year-old Alice, home for the holidays, is extremely bored in her parents’ presence. At breakfast, she rubs a teaspoon on her pussy, before stirring her tea with it smiling at her secret accomplishment. Later, she walks all the way back home from a meadow with her panties round her knees before taking a pee outside their doorstep. Her burgeoning sexuality expresses itself in random ways, sometimes involving a worm, but is always about what she perceives as freedom from being dictated to.
Though this was Catherine Breillat’s first feature, it didn’t receive a theatrical release until around two and a half decades later, due to the sexual explicitness.
Also, British actress, Charlotte Alexandra was over twenty-years-old, in case you were wondering.
