I’m crying for little James!! But the movie is good and I must give credit to Ely Solan!! He is so good acting-wise and very cute too
The Bulger family and detective Albert Kirby opposed the release of this film because they felt it portrayed Venables and Thompson in a sympathetic way. That didn’t stop them from cashing in on a new documentary and making the rounds on the day time talk shows. There is nothing wrong with that but it seemed like a coordinated effort at the time. Nevertheless, you have to admit that the child that played the part of Venables (Ely Solan) did a fantastic acting job. Venables and Thompson served 8 years in juvie while Eric Smith, who was 14 when he killed 4 year old Derrick Robie in a very similar way 6 months after the Bulger murder, ended up in an adult prison for the better part of 28 years in the USA. Smith was released last year. Venables, Thompson and Smith have never showed even the slightest bit of remorse for the murders. Smith gets enthusiastic and often chuckles when retelling the story of Robie’s death.

Remember this very well growing up,harrowing case,I believe 1 of these boys Rob Thompson,has lived a quiet trouble free life since being released & disappeared into anonymity,where as sicko John Venables has been in trouble numerous times,mostly involving child porn found on his computer,attacking someone with a knife & drug offences & is back behind bars,for yet more chikd pornography offences,ironic considering it was Thompson who was believed to be the ring leader & and the genuine psychopath of the pair,time has shown that to be untrue,either way both are nasty peices of shit,that did horrific things to little James & both shouldn’t have been released imo
