Two things:
1. From the “pure art” perspective, this is absolutely brilliant in terms of aesthetic…the low light level is somewhat able to hide the seems, where the effects might miss.
2. The obvious low-budget aspect is also well hidden by having a director of photography and camera operator team who are nothing short of god-tier levels of genius! They pull the audience’s eyes to the exact locations where the effects work best.
