Plot – Spoilers:
A sickly Mexican, Alberto works as security at a gym where he observes with a certain disdain, the unfit and the old driven psychotically to exercise. He returns home every night as we watch him feed himself a drip and then polish crockery that hark back to an inherited better life. We watch him wash plates and are even treated to a soap-sud slowly slipping down a plate. And you wonder what the fuck is the point of all this.
And then the film begins.
Alberto is missing pieces of flesh and slowly decomposing. There are also larva squiggling out of his arms. This is a sick man dying slowly, then finally dying and then living again.
Halley is an extremely slow film that broods on its characters and theme, and unless you’re up for this, you might as well skip it.
