Plot – Spoilers:
A couple, Hideki and Kana, are about to get married. Hideki is aggressively social while Kana is more subdued – together, their friends and family think they make the picture-perfect couple. Hideki believes this literally and is obsessed with blogging updates about his perfect life and newly-born daughter Chisa.
But beneath Hideki’s outgoing charm is the recurring trauma of being called out as a liar and a fraud. Things aren’t hunky-dory either at home and with Kana, and soon IT comes calling for Chisa. IT is an unknown force that has visited Hideki from his childhood and so now out of desperation, he seeks the help of a couple of exorcists.
I looked on Wikipedia and all in says in the plot is “A couple must protect their 2-year-old daughter’s life from a monster called Bogiwan.” The production is actually good but the story really sucks. By the end they have an exorcism and I was thinking “…but do you really need one?” It’s a typical Japanese film where they want to throw in everything and the kitchen sink with a million and one plot twists to the point of the film becoming just a big steaming ball of shit. I thought the story was going to go with “the monster is child abuse” route until the mother was murdered. After that it was just “WTF does this have to do with anything?” for the rest of the film. 2 stars.

Boring, 26 minutes in, and this guy is like having a kid and the most normie boring wedding ever. Since when did the Japs start dressing like the Koreans? If you’re a weeb, you’ll probably love it and think it’s scary and kawaii and shit. If you like cinema you’ll punch out 20 mins in. They add one blood scene and then go right back to the office and his wife. You know the editor put that in because people would have already punched out.
