The way she described the brutal rape by the heartless and cruel perps who left her for dead doesn’t match up with what she calls “revenge.” When they go looking for Orban in the woods it almost seems like she likes the brutal and heartless rapist. I found it to be a rather odd and, dare I say, effed up story but still not a bad film. 3 stars. Maybe 2 and a half.

katalin varga 2009 omg wow so many hills and valleys and this lady katalin carrying some heavy baggage like original sin or something film got twists like old english in church what just happened but you get it music like angels playing violins or something heavenly plot goes in circles like wandering through the desert for 40 years but stick with it end like a sermon might not catch everything but feel something profound like finding a lost sheep or a really good hymn so yeah katalin varga spiritual journey like trying to follow a sermon with a broken organ amen to that or katalain varga

What a surprise to find this movie here! I love it, but it seems to me that it is the least effedup of all Peter Strickland’s movies. Go see his other films, folks!

A recommendation, although I cannot imagine effedup fans have not yet seen it. A film that proves that a small budget need not be a reason to make a bad film: ‘One Cut of the Dead’ by Shin’ichiro Ueda. This 2017-masterpiece is already considered a classic, up to the point that Michel Hazanavicius made the mistake to come up with a French-language remake (in 2022), a film which I find impossible to watch. There also seems to be a link between ‘One Cut of the Dead’ and Ryoichi Wada’s ‘Ghost in the Box’, a film I have never seen. Maybe the Admin(s) feel challenged to sort this out?!
