This is about as edgy a film would get when it’s directed by David Schwimmer, who was one of the heartthrobs on the corny rom-com sitcom “Friends.” I’m sure Schwimmer really thought he aced it with this film but there are some glaring problems we have to discuss. The groomer was a pro who was hard to catch, right? Remember when Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, abducted, tortured, and murdered two-year-old James Bulger in 1993? How did they get caught? That’s right, security cameras at a shopping mall. A pro groomer wouldn’t meet his prey at a mall in 2010. 2nd problem – the groomer brings the victim to a hotel. Remember P. Diddy beating up his girlfriend in the hotel? Right again – security cameras. The FBI investigator, who is alleged to be an expert, would have reviewed the security tapes one day one. Sorry Schwimmer. Another beef is the over acting by Liana Liberato as “Annie” and especially Catherine Keener as the mom. Case in point; when Kenner is flipping the fuck out and throwing papers around the room, encouraged by Schwimmer to over act, no doubt. I’ll go straight up the middle with this one and give it just a cunt hair over 2 and a half stars. It’s unintentionally funny in spots.

This movie could have been great but it turned out to be a drab squib. Probably because of the Director.
Dave Schwimmer was easily the least talented / likable cast member on Friends. It’s probably just a Hollywood ego-trip but failed actors should not try their hand at directing. This is not one of those times failing upward panned out.
Cliche production, probably not worth your time.

Ignore the detritus kiddie comments -I feel for those who are isolated, lack social skills and just want some attention. This is a film actually worth a watch in terms of the family dynamics and the perspective the victim initially takes with being vulnerable, niave and wanting to feel special. Schwimmer did a good job with this. Not the usual but a fair addition here IMO.
