Meh. It’s more or less a patchwork of comedic sketches and sight gags. Everyone claims what a genius this guy Luis Buñuel is but would they be saying that if he wasn’t a multi millionaire born with a silver spoon up his ass? People bitch about Donald Trump’s father giving him a million dollars to get him started in the world. Luis Buñuel’s dad gave him 10 million. It doesn’t really matter to me how rich the guy was. I thought the film was funny in spots but nowhere near the level of genius everyone claims it to be. It’s a bunch of absurdist jokes that aren’t that funny and the movie was boring as fuck. 2 stars. I know he’s dead but please, let’s take that super pampered rich fuck down a notch in the genius department.
I liked the vague connections from one vignette to another but nothing really happens in this entire movie. I didn’t even find it funny. Some parts were kind of unsettling. I read a summary before watching it about the guy checking into a hotel with his aunt and I was expecting his aunt to be his Mother’s MUCH MUCH younger sister. At least I had hoped that would be the case but it was not………….Be warned.
