Plot – Spoilers:
A middle-aged Spanish banker, Pablo, is unhappy about everything in his life. He thinks of himself as a Bolshevik based on a college thesis he never completed, yet won’t consider releasing himself from the stranglehold of his corporate job. He thinks he’s achieved a clarity about where he stands in life, but like with everything else, he’s only confused. So he’ll make crude remarks in the presence of women, hate them if they desire him, turn venomous and vindictive if they are contemptuous of him, yet also be kind to his female assistant.
Pablo pines for his childhood and teen years despite growing up without money or much parental involvement in a rough neighborhood. This yearning for the past has also instilled in him a strong belief that to be innocent is to be young. So when he’s got a lonely evening to himself at home, he spends it browsing books on the Russian Revolution, while also being fascinated by a particular photo of a group of young Russian girls.
The film starts with Pablo getting into a minor accident and fight with a woman whom he then starts prankcalling. Until he notices she has a younger school-going sister with a Virgin Maria appeal that takes his breath away.
Great film. I watched it and stayed interested in it till the end. *SPOILER AHEAD? Not sure*
Earns its effedup star at the end. That was effed up. But there are wisps of effedupness throughout.

This is a really good movie until final 5 mins..I’m still glad I watched it, great lead actors snd a genuinely twisted funny plotline kinda like a decent US indie flick by Todd Solendz or Hal Hartley..but bummer ending deffo ruined my ”easy like sunday morning vibe” fckin bitch older vinegar tits sister ruined it for Pablo bigtime!
this is a pretty good one all around, ..interesting characters with a quite good development, even if not exceedingly deep ( but better than becoming pretentious or overtly cerebral about it); questioning morality that didn’t handshake too much, I thought, the general common idea of it, but staying realistic; good plot, it made me think the book could also be good. The style is sober, not very interesting maybe but absolutly does the job and never put me off of bothered me. Films that try hard, (even not that hard at times) to be stylish, authorial, fancifully directed, without having the ability of pullin it off annoy me very much more, or better, they do annoy me, while the capacity of just carrying a good story letting it tell itself, avoiding anything annoyingly childish, for me is yet good “style”. …

TV movie with a mellow intriguing story and some humor that I dig. Good acting and some damn pretty actresses. Not the type of movie you expect here.
Spoiler: did I miss it that her sister explicitly but indirectly sent those guys after him and thus killed her own sister by accident, or is that only implied but left unanswered? I kind of love and hate it if they left that unanswered, it makes one remember the movie by wondering…
3.5 to 4 stars for me, so I bumped it with 5.
